I do consider you a friend, and there is a hellova lot more to be concerned about than only mis-prescribed or mis-doseages of medicine. To be sure, those are high incident causes, but there are more, like mistakes during surgical procedures and the worst one--infections caused by very poor sterilization procedures.[Hard to believe in this modern era].

I hate doctors. They told my dad that his cancer had went away. Dad went back 3 days later and they done the same tests again and found that the doctor was terrobly mistaken. my dad died 2 days after the test.

There are doctor's groups that talk about guns in America being an epidemic and of course the JAMA supporting the anti-gun hysteria. Too bad science has to mix with politics. College-educated doctors that can't look at the published numbers of legal defensive uses of guns versus number of people murdered with guns. I've got a 1.8 GPA from a Missouri public high school and I know guns are used to save lives more than they are to take lives. Why can't these fags in white coats figure it out?

There are many hundreds of thousands of good, competent MD's in all specialties in the USA. During my 76 years, I was fortunate to have had my ass saved by several of them, most recently in 2004. I tell you quite freely, I couldn't have cared less if one or the other was a "fag" OR was anti-gun.

The use of the word "fags" does not mean I think all doctors are homosexuals. It is a word in common use whose meaning has also come to be recognized as "one who is lame" or perhaps a good synonym would be "wanker" if you understand the brits. Many of the nosocomial infections and medication deaths are caused by procedural nursing and pharmacy mix ups. I have seen meds being used without laboratory reports, concentration work up. Most problems are made by patient misidentification. Giving the wrong patient the wrong medicine is bad. Each year we end up having a few deaths from giving blood transfusions to the wrong patient.
The reason the problems are getting worse is because nursing and staff are understaffed, overworked and stressed out. We expect our nursing staff to perform 3 peoples jobs because funding is so low. We are maxed out on insurance, hospital overhead and supplies. We just can not make enough to survive as a viable hospital with insurance companies and medicare/medicaid mandating services yet limiting our payments. For example NYS forces us to perform full pediatric transfusions yet reimburses us for only a fraction of the procedure. Plus malpractice insurance. we arein the red before we wake up each morning.....

I have had no correct my spelling as much since elementary school. And Yes I was a Clinical Lab Scientist for a while. I went to the Product development side because it had better Health benefits for the family. Yes- working in a hospital had shit health insurance. When I got married all of the sudden I needed health insurance and the hospital insurance sucked.
Also, the work conditions were horrible. Blood bank, immunology, chemistry and hematology with some micro work. They expected us to work all sections, draw blood and work the ER by yourself overnight in a inner city shit hole. The last straw was layoffs. The health system dropped supervisors to tech's and laid off a few people. I could have taken a pert-time because I had no seniority. Now I am developing the Bio-Chemical Systems, dealing with compliance issues and product launches. Had to go back to graduate school but its working out.
It is a strange mentality when a society trims their budget from education, health care and law enforcement. The NYS government wants to go after the working people, not cut welfare for people who do not work. Lets cut police salaries because we spent all our money on handouts. Now I understand everyone needs help sometimes- I am speaking of welfare of the generational nature where people never get out of poverty because they are dependent on the government handout........fuck it.....work hard and get rewarded still works...

I love it when people like SamD bring in logic to the gun debate. To bad sound logic isn't used when passing gun restrictions for "our safety". Even when it is however, the congress is quick to tell us that those facts are skewed and we need to pay attention to the real issue at hand. Then in the same breath they tell us that one person out of 100 will be effected by gun violence. Listen, I'll be the first in line to ban every kind of firearm, bb gun, slingshot, hell even rubber band guns in the name of safety as long the courts will stipulate that in the same interest we must do away with doctors, cars, and swimming pools. Actually, better make it any puddle greater than 12 inches from end to end, and greater than 2 inches deep.

I have had some great doctors over the years and actually required two eye surgeries...in addition, I was twice hit by speeding cars, once on a bicycle, once as a kid while crossing between cars...always great care. In addition, last year, the doctor saved my 87 year old grandmother after her heart attack!

actually I did not want to admit it, but I invented the word. It was not the kind of invention that the common word "invention" means. It was a lot more like when Al Gore "invented" the internet and Global Warming. He had a lot of help, and I did too.
After people picked it up, it took on several different usages, like a subsitute for "coffin nail" [cigarette] and being tired, as in all "fagged out". Also some people attached a particular sexual orientation to it by calling other people by that word as a noun. There were apparently some British meanings too, but I don't speak British english.
When I was growing up right after the War of 1812, mostly, the word meant something like "don't ever turn your back on the British because you will definitely get screwed".
It became very common then.

Not all definitions or usage can be found in Webster's or Merriam's. It is interesting to think that someone may not know all definitions or usages of every word, is it not? I actually got a mental picture of the kid on the horse looking up the word 'fag' in big, leather-bound books. Hah hah. Whether you can find it or not is irrelevant to me. As I stated before, it will not change the way I convey my thoughts.
