Drafting Guys over 60-

I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.

For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some asshole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while.

An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10 a..m. Old guys always get up early to pee so what the hell. Besides, like I said, 'I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-bitch.

If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.

Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start up a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head..

These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way..

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple of million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons who know that their best years are already behind them.

***How about recruiting Women over 50 ....in menopause!!! You think Men have attitudes !!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol.... They will have it secured the first night!

I've been saying this for years. I tried to re-enlist for the first Gulf War, and was told that I was too old. I said, look, I've had a life. I've been married a pretty good while, my kids are raised and educated, I have money saved for my wife. Let these young guys stay here. I have experience, and I don't give a fuck about any rights the enemy might have - I'll just kill them. Didn't work.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man. (Mark Twain).

This was in the early spring of 1990.. i was commuting from Tucson to Florence every day, and our car pool met up on north oracle rd.. one of the generic shoping center corners.. saddam had just announced the "mother of all wars" thing.. So i went in with my old DD214 and said im down for this. The age thing at that time was based on 36 i got credit for the 4 yrs served in the sixtys, but still missed the cut off by like 6 months. I asked about any revue or exceptions, and this is the cool part.. Old chief says sir ive tried so many times with other nam vets in the past few weeks, i promise you thiers no way it can happen.. Least they wised up, it would have happened with the new age limits today.

a couple of times a day is not true at all. As to the rest of it, why the hell not? I'm retired with a steady income so I don't give a shit what they wouild pay me. I'd welcome full medical. You don't have to tell me about discipline. I'm not going to get rip roaring drunk or high on pot. Otherwise just tell me which direction to point my M-16 and I'll take care of it.

They could save a hell of a lot of money using us
because we either have been to college or don't care about going;

Ammo might be a problem though because if it moves we are
going to shoot it. Find out what it was after while.
And we love to shoot

He was pissedthat he couldn't do anything when OIF started, he's a Desert Storm vet and said it's his war and him and all the guys who started it should have been allowed to go finish it. He called me all sorts of names when I told him I was going and not to worry, that I would carry the family name into Baghdad since he failed. Hah hah. That was a funny conversation.

I want to go back and do it the right way. pull everybody back to Kuwait and Turkey, and reinvade after using the Rules of Engagement as buttwipe.

Pkato, Great post! I think about sex all day long, I just can't keep up when it is time like when I was 25. By this time my wife and I have been together 25, 26 years and the sex is there whenever I want it. The rest is absolutely funny and true. A bunch of (no slower) hard charging pissed off old farts (like me and older) would love to sling a few at those bastards. Served for my country once, would do it again. I just think the look on my old EX O's face would be worth it seeing me back in the fleet again! And with a hundred times more attitude.

I still remember the recruter saying he knew nothing could be done re the age deal, as he had already tried so many times before..
Pkato hit it. For most of us, it was the best years of our life.. Maybe thats just old man rememberence, but you can go into any VFW and hear the same thing..

ok...time for bed, and that geratol fix...thats some good shit.. almost as good as Milwaukees best light.

It was the time I spent off post with my Class A pass. Parties, sex, booze and stuff that gets you locked up now, but nobody hassled you about in those days - in CA at least, or in Europe. Then things went downhill as far as fun was concerned.
