The Dura Coat process is for lack of better words a pain in the ass! Don't get me wrong it's a very good product but the baking is rough just follow the directions exaclty and you should be fine. And a tip if you want to use the stencils they send with the kit...don't cut them out of like plastic butter bowl lids it works better. That is really all I have on the subject, hope it was kinda helpful.

I used 16 bucks in krylon spraypaint on my rifle and it looks, um, well, like somebody spraypainted a rifle. If you want a nice, even coated, pretty weapon, DON'T SPRAYPAINT YOUR GUN!!!! I'm a bit lowbrow, though, so the worn edges and blended patterns work well for me. RUNAWAYGUN762 FOR PRESIDENT!!!!

I was actually going to look for someone near Bluffton SC to do it as; I do not posses the skill or patience to master something like that. And I don't feel like deprecating the value with spry paint

Hey man don't feel bad I've sprayed many a gun in my day the best stuff to use is the High temp bar-b-que paint from wal-mart. I only used Dura Coat once and hated all the time that you have to put into it. When I get leave again I plan to spary my 2 new rifles. I just bought a Remington 770 in .308 of course and a Remington 770 in .270. I have my buddy picking up a new varmint gun for me I love shooting coyotes when I'm home. It's a Remington 700 BDL in .17 Remington bad ass coyote rifle. Let me know if you have any thoughts on any of the rifles I have mentioned.

I have a number of pieces finished w/ Cerakote. Look up their web site. Tough stuff and looks great. About 20+ colors available too. PM me if you wish more details.

How well does the Dura Coat hold up against holster wear? Do you clean it the same way you would normally clean the gun?

dura coat

holds up reasonably well but i would be leary about using it on a gun that rides in a kydex or hard plastic holster.i honestly havent been spraying it long enough to know about the wear.
