Duracoating

I personally dont own a gun with the duracoat finish. I have saw several and handled them. From what i have been told its a very good tough and long lasting finish. I was told that once dry it will stand to daily use, rain, sun, sand, anything thrown at it. Also handles cleaning chemicals and oil well. A good friend of mine says have it put on and forget about it it will be fine. I do like the look and its available in about any color combination imaginable. I wouldnt hesitate to have it done if i had some dings i wanted to cover up.

Forget duracoat

spend 16 bucks on krylon spraypaint. It doesn't look as good, it doesn't last as long, and. Man. Why did I do that to my rifle?

Duracoat or CeraKote

Duracoat is a user friendly finish, air cured, fairly duarable, two part epoxy paint, must be sprayed on with air brush or equivilent. it has a pot life of approx. 1 hour before it starts setting up and will not spray evenly. Duracoat is best applied over fresh parkerizied metal, it requires a tooth for the paint to adhere, bead blasting with 80 grit aluminum oxide is recommended, dries to the touch quickly. Easy to work with for camo finishes

Cerakote is a bake-on finish that is also a two part epoxy it has the same characteristics as Duracoat but does not dry untill it is baked, it is a much more durable finish over Duracoat but is not so user friendly. camo finished are tough as each color has to be applied and cured before the next color is applied, use of heat proof stencils are also required. dont think about using your household kithen oven as this stuff is not so health, resperators are also a must.

I recommend the Duracoat for longguns and Cerakote for handguns, especially if the handgun is for daily use/ carry.

a great way to camo a rifle is use a brown or green Cerakote base on the firearm and then apply Krylon over the cured Cerakote base for a camo finish, the Krylon can be easily removed and redone without damaging the Cerakote base.

Of the two, which has the best flat coat? I prefer my carry gun to not reflect light as much as possible. One of the things that has held me up from using either is all the pictures and the couple of weapons I have held that were coated were a bit on the glossy side. One actually had a serious shine to it...

Cerakote or Duracoat flat black?

I only paid thirty bucks and it says there's enough for four guns so that's all it would probably cost to do all of your pistols unless you want a camo finish which is over a hundred

Colors

Duracoat comes in many diffrent colors, sounds like you might want to check out the tactical colors in their line. I have saw the tactical black and and army digital colors they both looked nice and non reflective.
