Egypt, your thoughts.
Egypt is now "in the hands of the people". While we watch and wait, I can't help but think how different this might have been without internet or satellite feeds. He who controls the military obviously was not a fan of the current regime. It "could" have been over in hours, now its "till next time". The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! |

in Egypt is required to do a tour in the Egyptian military from what i understand,so the public is seeing their sons and fathers in the military, which is much more in favor with the people than the police who are looked upon with some distain, not trusted,( the police).Last time there was political turmoil in Egypt,it was the Colonels that helped control the government. My neice is in Cairo right now hiding, but she was teaching English there, she says she is safe though, her boyfriend is Egyptian(moslem),go figure.

out of the pan into the fire.
Having the military in power creates
a dictator. I don't see how the people
are in power if they can't control the
military.
Lord help them.
Obama take a hint and go peacefully

I won't go into the reasons why Egypt needs to remain an ally.
I would like to make one point. The laws and programs implemented by our current powers in DC can be repealed. Whatever the outcome in Egypt, the US and her allies have one chance to get this right. No do over. I don't know how much influence we may have. Likewise, I don't know how much influence radical muslims may have. Whatever happens, we can't "vote it out". As odd as this may sound, pray for our leaders and our president to make wise decisions. We got one shot at this and our shooter can't see the target!

The people of Egypt are going to get one of two things. Some form of Democracy or machine gunned down in the streets...
When I went to tech school after basic I had a few Saudis in my classes. Each of them all wanted their government to lean more towards the American model. Who knows, maybe they are finally ready to seriously fight for it no matter what it takes.
