I'd get a Zune instead

You can either pay a monthly subscription 14.99 to listen to whatever songs are in the library or pay .99 cents per song like the Ipod with the point system. Cost for the units themselves are about the same. Can also synch them to your PC and some phones. Main consideration is how much storage space you want to have, the more storage space on the player, the higher the player's price tag. Zune price range is about $80 for a 4GB to ~$240 for a 120GB player (new). If you want lots of songs, maybe the 120 GB is what you're looking for.

mp3 players

i can tell you what i did after i got my daughter an ipod. i did not need a million songs with video and pictures and the kitchen sink. so, i got 4 cheap ( about 8-10 bucks) mp3 players. they hold 3 or 400 songs each. i put old country on one classic rock on another and so on. i still have more songs than i can remember and it didn't cost me $500. worked good for me.

mp3's?

why the hell did i never think of that....brilliant. Theres nothing that irritates me more when i play poker than to expect Merel and get Ozzy blasting in my ears in the middle of a hand.

zunes

Zunes are way better LBC, hands down. easier to manage too i thought, which would help too since you mentioned your new to stuff like that.

If you can make an MP3 from Pandora's music, you can put it on a Zune. Zunes have FM radio built in so you can listen to local stations, Pandora is an internet radio though-you might be able to find an FM transmitter that can stream the music from Pandora (your PC) to your Zune, but I'm pretty positive that you can't download music from Pandora to MP3 format. If you know what songs you want on your player, then you may want to go with purchasing the points for it so you can download and own those specific songs. If you want to check out a bunch of new music, then the subscription might be better. If you have the CDs already, you could rip them with Media Player (assuming you have a windows PC) to MP3 format and then transfer those songs to the Zune without having to pay for either the membership or points. It's legal to rip your CDs to MP3 format, providing that you do not transfer those files to a new owner or distribute them in any way, so in that case you can just buy the player and transfer the songs that you want from those dusty CDs.

A new smart phone. It is the Droid X and this thing does it all.I have Pandora on it as well as many other country radio stations. I also have 4 different ballistics calculators on it to.These are really handy out in the feild. It even does GPS work rather well. It has full internet capabilities so you can keep up on all the latest gunslot news. It has an 8 megapixel camera and records video in 720p high def. Yes I have to carry the datapackage from Verizon but for the convience to be able to have the internet in the palm of your hand for quick web searches for address, phone numbers, and customer review stuff its worth it to me.From the factory it has 22 gb of storage and can be expanded to I think 32 with a change of the sd card.

LOL, now you've done it...

he just got used to the used idea of a MP3 player and something new pops up to ponder!

hehe

The only thing about running everything online through your Cell service is monthly costs and what they would work out to be. But that said having the app's at hand sure makes life easy.

The Droid X is and exceptional phone on the Verizon marketplace. I also recommend the Sprint Evo by HTC which has exceptional features as well.

The only problem with Sprint is that in my area their services is poor.A freind has the EVO and it is a nice set up. Either one is better than the iphone 4 in my opinion.

coming out of my ears....I have been looking at the Droid phones as well,my concern is they are changing(i think) about every 6 months,I really like the idea of having an all inclusive package but some guys i know are running close to 200.00 a month with those setups,my cell costs me 30.00 a month for 1500 minutes talk/text with 30 whadafuk of something(email?).BTW did you know 57 out of 100 apps had trackers, some even had gps capabilities,so they know where you are, where you go,and when, hello big brother.

They can track any cell as long as the battery is in it.I can pull the battery on my Driod just as easy as a normal phone. My unlimited data usage is 30 bucks a month, but to me the convience of having it is worth the money.

Well the plan I am on.

I have three phones on it with 1800 minutes, two with unlimited data useage, unlimited text/pics, and it runs right around 140 a month after all the taxes and bs they add on.If it was just my phone it would be somewhere around 50-60 a month because I wouldn't need as many minutes cause the wife and mother inlaw are talking on their phones all the time. The ballistic apps I have are Strelok Ballistic calculator(Free),Ballistic Calculator(Free) and M Star ballistic calculator(2.99).All thre have their own things I like about them. They are very detailed so a guy can actually learn some things from them.

And now I can even check my IM's at work with my phone. It is a very handy tool so I don't mind the cost one bit.

Range Data on Droid

I have a Droid X and I was looking for an application that I could use to easily organize my data from the range including pictures of targets etc.. that I take with my phone. There are so many apps that my brief 10 minute search through the marketplace didn't come up with anything.

As an example of what I would use it to log:

Day, Time, Firearm, Ammo (Brand, Bullet Type, etc...), shooting position, target range, weather conditions, number of shots, results (accuracy etc...), and then attach a picture of the target to the log entry.

Would anyone be interest in an application for Droid phones that does the type of stuff I mentioned above? I still can't find one and since I have application programming experience I think I will just develop my own application, but I will need people to help me test it.

Let me know if you have any interest in this!

With the Excel program available on it without the load of programming. They're not available yet on my carrier yet though. That's the phone I'm waiting on here. Stupid Verizon's still not on that one. I wish T-mobile would move into my area, they've got my 7 phone already.

Nah Android have spreadsheet and database programs, so I could easily do it on an Android phone, but I would rather have a nice interface for entering info, nice graphical searches and an one touch upload so I can also store and view them on my PC. I'm not really a fan of the Windows 7 phones, nor am I fan of the iPhone.

I have a 30G ipod

My brother-in-law accidentally sent it to me in Iraq. I needed a Pelican case for my digital camera, and he sent me one but didn't realize it still had his ipod in it. He told my wife to just say it was a gift, but the heat made a permanent black spot on the screen, so when he deployed, it was no good to give back to him.
