Im trying to get a new handgurd on my Saiga AK and I cant seem to get the the top part over the gas tube(pictured in links)

As you can see the top has a "octogonal"(???) shape and doesnt look like the pictures of what ive seen.... does that "thing" come off or do I need to buy a normal gas tube. It looks like it has been tacked on so im afraid to pry on it to much! any info would be appreciated guys!

generally,you can twist the handgaurd off of the gas tube.hold the tube then try to rotate the handguard off of the tube.on an sks you have to drive out a pin.

the handgaurd you have is spot welded in place!find another gas tube to work with would be the best way for you to go!
