I was shooting at a falling Plates Match saturday and got hit by some fragented lead! Didn't hurt to bad, just freaked me out for a second or two. I was wearing CROCS (yes I know they are gay, but they are comfrotable) and it hit my ankle, just above the shoe. Had to pull a small hunk of lead out and it bleed a little, but other than that no big deal. It's the first time it's happened to me....anybody else been hit?

Actually....I had to go to the E.R. where I almost bled to death! They were gonna take my foot, but I Bitch Slapped the doctor took some vicodin, and drank a few beers instead! It's all good now.....I put a SpongeBob Band-Aid on it!

in the So Pacific. We hit the beach through a hail of lead and we threw more and more back. We inched up the beach and I mean an inch at a time. Terrible cross fire from everything they had. We dodged bullets into late in the afternoon when we finally cleaned most of the little nippers out. I had blood and guts all over me from my wounded and dead buddies, but the US prevailed once again. Late that afternoon we dug in 123.9 yds up the beach. Occasional fire, nothing getting hit but we had them on the run. New ammo and some K rations came in. Well I am sitting there relaxed just finishing my Pemmican and looking forward to the chocolate bar in the bottom of my packet. Well some-one-of-a- itch didn't some lousy Japanese Officer with his frigging Nambu shoot at me and knocked my chocolate bar to hell and gone. Now I am pissed. My buddy spies him laughing about 36 yds away, grinning like a skunk eating garbage. I took a bead with my MI Garand and just as he brought his canteen up I shot down his throat. The .308 went clear through him and out his very tight sphincter and richotched off of his little 20mm Mortar, that was behind him. Well that .308 came zipping back at me and hit my St Christopher's medal splintered and a few pieces imbedded in my chest. Hurt like hell. I got my pliers out, took the splintered remnanats out and packed the wound in what remained of my chocolate bar. We all had a good laugh, never reported it, didn't want no stupid medals.
So to this day, that is why I love Chocolate... It saved my life...

Yes, been hit more than once by a ricochet. Been hit about 10 times from a ricochet lead. One time at the range shooting steel had a new guy get hit by a ricochet from his buddy that almost took off his middle finger on his right hand. I was done shooting already and took the guy to the ER for his finger and I got to see the X-ray of his finger of how close he came to losing his finger.

Been hit a bunch

When I was in middle school, there was a couple houses in the middle of the woods that were both abandoned and collapsing. I used to go back there and shoot them both. One house had a foundation wall that went a couple feet out of the ground. I actually thought it was fun to shoot it with my 12 gauge loaded with #7 1/2 shot and get peppered in the legs with ricochets. They leave little red whelts all over. I once took a .22 bullet to the hip doing that and stopped having fun. I've caught a bit of lead spaltter from falling poppers, but that's because I rarely shoot in anything other than shorts nowadays

That's not a ricochet

You're a casualty of direct fire from a mexican. He's probably an illegal, so you are a victim in a low-level invasion by a foreign combatant. You should come down here to the Frontera and join me in doing our part to stop the Beaner Invasion. I recently learned that we still have Polish military assistance. They heard there was a Gulf War going on, so they sent 10,000 troops. Unfortunately, it was the wrong gulf and now Mexico is pissed. But we can use them.

Not quite...
but close. I was shooting at an indoor 15 yard limit pistol range with 850 F.P.S Winchester .45 ACP 230 Grain FMJ rounds, plinking quite contently when I had to sneeze and as I pressed the trigger, I flinched a little trying to suppress said sneeze and I hit the metal clamp that grips the paper target. My round cam all the way back and landed right between my feet. Scary to say the least. I definitely kept that one. I have it in storage somewhere. I am blessed it glanced off at just the right angle ad did not come back with more force and hit me as that would have seriously sucked!

If you are not just a little bit crazy, then you are not quite sane...

When we were about 14

my friend and I were down at the river shooting at anything that moved and a lot of stuff that didn't. Well, my buddy liked shooting the mud banks to see how big a hole he could make. Unfortunately, under a particular area of mud was a nice big rock which caused the .22 to come back and lodge into my left calf. After much difficulty I dug the bullet out and then doctored it myself. So in the middle of summer I'm wearing knee length socks to cover up the wound and dressings. My father asked what the hell I was doing wearing socks like that in 100 degree weather. Being the early 80s, I convinced him that it was a new fad and then made all my friends wear them when they came to the house. We knew that if the truth got out we'd never be allowed to go down to the river again with the rifles.

conundrum, but is true here as well. Benton County is still dry but a serious boot legger got busted last year up in Gravette. Why cook it when it is 8 miles up the road in Missouri? 'Shine can make a person blind, cripple and crazy not to mention growing hair on their palms :<)

Every now and then

I'll have people bring me some home-made brew. Most of it scares me. I still have a bottle of homemade wine a lady gave me around seven years ago. I figure if I let it mellow for 20 years it might be OK. Haven't had any moonshine yet. I'd just rather acquire my ethanol in a bottle of Woodford Reserve. Much safer that way.

I had forgotten that Benton County was dry. Oh well, more revenue for Washington County.

Ah, shooting mud

I still love it. It started with pellet gun craters and now I'll shoot mud with anything. I have a pic posted with me as a young soldier shooting the M60 from the hip. When that pic was taken, I was shooting at an APC target about 300 meters out. Well, from the hip, you don't hit shit, so I lowered the gun and started shooting a mud/water puddle about ten feet in front of me. That was some fun shit.

Well, that's what you get for running away. Then again, hit in the ass running is probably better than hit in the nuts charging, huh?
