Tannerite

The stuff that is named after the guy who invented it "Tannerite" is amazing for doing long range rifle testing to see if you scored a hit or not, great if you dont have time to go back and forth to the target and if you dont have a spotter. I recommond Tannerite also just because it is fun and has a pretty cool boom.

Gregory, I agree Tannerite is the best target indicator out there. You know it's a shame guys like "mds213" break patent laws and sell knock off versions. Ever heard of the "leatherman tool" when that patent ran out everyone and their dog copied it and that's ok because everyone had to wait for the patent to expire.

Its just a matter of time before that guy is in court with the Tannerite company. Trying to profit off someone else's product is just criminal and wrong. I wonder how he would feel if he invented something and I came along and ripped it off.

Just my 2 cents.

and all this time i thought tannerite was the name of some sort of chemical compound

good to know... I've seen people shooting at reactive pyro like targets but never asked where they go them

are they inert when shipping or do they get an ORM-D sticker?

You can get Tannerite from me directly, I'm an authorized distributor. They are inert until mixed and they do ship ORM-D, going UPS ground. I sell on ebay also, just do a search for tannerite.
Let me know if you'd like some.

Wow, that was cool

A little commercial competition here. Neato. "This guy sells knockoff crap. buy from me". Heh heh. Incidentally, when someone comes along with an innovation that improves upon the original, I call that good for the consumer. Leatherman products suck ass. I'm glad Gerber improved on it.

How do you know?

Have you done a comparison? If so, by all means, post a video for those who like these kinds of targets. otherwise, it just looks like commercial competition. Well, to me anyway. but I won't buy the stuff, so to hell with me.

Hello,

I called the us patent office, told them what I was going to sell and they said "I was not breaking any patent laws because my product does not contain the same chemicals as Tannerite". I started selling targets because I found a way to get the same end result without following tannerite's formula and make it cheap enough to let any person enjoy them. My customers have told me that my targets are as loud if not louder and they also told me a .17vmr will set off 1 of my 1 Lb targets from 100 YDS! They also told me a .17 vmr would not set off any target larger. I have done side by side comparison with many brands and it's just more boom for your buck! I agree Tannerite is made from a specific formula and no one should copy that and put a different name on it! Do you really think I would break the law to sell these targets here and there for the price I sell them at? NO WAY!!! Check out my prices you can see I'm not trying to get rich, just trying to allow any hard working, red blooded american enjoy the fun of exploding targets like everyone else!!! Check it out, you'll see!! www.sureshotexplodingtargets.com

FYI: My targets are as stable as any you have seen!!

I thought about it some more and I thought I would give my 2 cents. Isn't it funny that the 1 person who smears me has been a member for 1-2 weeks! "Hardpack101" check it out! I also find it funny that he joins to smear me and say how much of a poopy head I am and that my product is a knock off and in no way an improvement on "Tannerite", and his very next post is "Buy your Tannerite here, I'm a dealer"!
No hidden agenda there! Right? That's why I have been told by some of his former, my current customers that I saved them money and they enjoyed it just the same! I'll do one better. Any member who wants to be an unbiased party and has a video camera, preferably a long standing member can do the test! I will send "free of charge" a few 1 Lb targets and if little Mr.hardpack will do the same, then the member can shoot and tape the 2 types of targets shot from the same distance with the same Gun and the same ammo and let the video tell the tale!! I actually found a formula that is as stable and still preforms the same but saves the customer money! I don't know about you but that sounds like an improvement to me! But I am biased that's why I offered the unbiased video test! Let me know?
FYI, I have belonged to a gun forum(that's how I found this one) for years, I didn't join just to sell product!

Now thats funny!!! ok mr poopy head knock off patent insurgent! Who cares how long I've been on here? What is important here is the fact your just a knock off out of work plumber trying to make a buck off the Tannerite product, and people need to know. When you finially go to court you might just learn how to go about things leagally.

I'll volunteer, MDS

I have a camera, a suitable place to shoot, and I'll post videos of it here for comparison. I've used exploding targets before, but only the little bity ones that make a flash when you hit the center. And of course I'm neutral with a calm demeanor. Just ask, well, nobody here. THEY ALL LIE!!!!

Now we're going to have the consumer version of what these two boom sellers are doing. "No, runawaygun is a sick dog fucker and can't be trusted. Send them to me". Terrible. Hateful. Okay, there's some truth to it, but mean anyway.

I'll leave it at this

If anyone has a clue, and it"s obvious you don't JR, Tannerite is so far from the original patent ...well let's just say this, no more shampoo bottles with small necks, no more funnel, no more powder Ammonium Nitrate, no more Ammonium Perchlorate, no more zirchonium just AN prill and dark AL( at least that's what comes from hardpack101" the distributor" and I'm not talking about my own words). The thing is Dan Tanner is a good guy and I am also a decent guy. Thats why I called him, we talked and life go's on. Just because you want it your way doesn't mean he will spend all that money to take me to court for the few cases I sell a month or every 2 month's. I will drop this right here. I should have never played into your petty mud slinging to begin with and the thing is Runawaygun you would have to buy from both of us blind to make sure he or I did not send a dangerous HOT LOAD to you. I will say it again, I called the US patent office and they reviewed it and I was told I was IN NO WAY infrenging on Dan's patent. I even called him to let him know what I was doing and after my talk with the patent office I did not owe it to anyone to call them. There are like 15 other company's selling similar things, why don't you go to their gun forum and act like you're just making a comment about how bad bad of a man they are just to say "Buy your Tannerite here I'm a dealer" DONE

I was beginning to enjoy a pissing contest that didn't involve me. Oh well, maybe someone will pick up the gauntlet and start a fight with Vaquero. Or maybe the japs will return and go kamikaze on greasy's ass.

I already called it. Presidency is mine. And once I'm in, I'll stage a coup attempt which will inflame the nation, thus leading to legislation that I will "with a heavy heart, and much humility" sign into law, establishing myself as President for life. Shortly after that, my 214 "czars" will have their titles officially changed to "ministers" and I shall become King Dave. Nope. That don't sound right. Popes get to change their names, and since I'll be king of the UPD (United Provinces of Dave) I think I should be able to also. So I shall become King Humble the Grand. Now bow to me, serf. That's right. You will no longer be a citizen. You will be a serf. Nope. We'll change the spelling to surf. Now bow, surf. And the "Hail King Humble the Grand" sign shall be the middle finger. So sayeth me.

an entire nation and government called Jalapenos. That's pronounced "Jalpanos". We were gonna take over the Galapagos Islands and form a country. Instead of a DARE program, we were going to have a DASE program. Drug and Alcohol Selection Education. Choose the right drug and drink for you.

I hate jalapenos. But I love me some habanero, thai chile, and serrano peppers. I did make the mistake of using a whole habanero in a bowl of ramen a week or so ago. It went from an enjoyable meal to a test of my manhood. Man, was that rough.

Well, lemme see here...

I've still got two tubs of actual Tannerite.

I've got a real nice camcorder and a hell for stout tripod.

I've got plenty of appropriate ammo (well not a lot but plenty)

I've got access to a large, secluded, semi-private gravel pit.

So...

If the challenge is still open and if MDS213 wants to send me a couple for comparison, I'll take the time and make an apples to apples comparison video and post it.

I'm new here and haven't managed to piss off anyone in this forum yet.

Personally, I don't understand all of the drama over this. There have been several brands of exploding mixtures and over the past dozen years I've tried several of them. Some were good, some were only okay, but, except for one*, all of them were fun.

*a company in Tennessee was offering a similar product around 1998. We tried some at Knob Creek and experienced about a 1 in 5 failure rate.

Exploding targets

My uncle is "Magician" with road flares and a bit of gun powder. Dont ask me how he does it but he can make a pretty good boom shooting at the road flare thus igniting the gunpowder. I still have yet to figure it out how he does it. He wont tell me! I dont really care sounds a bit dangerous and a bit crazy!

Wow!

Look at this brutal discussion... Ok, so here is my 10 cents...

I actually got some sure shot from this guy on here to try it out...

We usually sell tannerite, which is named tannerite because the inventor has a last name of Tanner...

The sure shot was several times louder and was impressive enough that we are now discontinueing tannerite since it is almost the same price.

That and Matthew the owner is pretty sincere, and excited about his product. He uses better ingrediants and makes a "similar" but far improved product in my humble honest opinion.

I feel bad that everyone on here got after him so bad on here, and without necessarily even trying the product or having any factual basis at all to base the claims on...

Just my humble honest opinion of course, and what do I know I am a combat vet that builds guns for a living...
