A year has passed since the rumors broke in the news, and it looks like the rumors were true. If we believe that the FBI has one of the best ballistics labs in the world, including some of the best ballistician researchers [that means people with doctorate degrees who are expert at design of experiments, control of variables, and data analysis using advanced math/statistics], then we should find their latest report of great interest.

If you are a flat earther, and love old curmudgeon "wisdom", you will not like the basis upon which the FBI is making their change.
For example that old saying: "....if you are going to a gunfight, take a gun, whose caliber begins with at least a "4". " The FBI says that's BS. based upon their research.

Without belaboring the points of their research, you can google the subject, and read it for yourself. BUT suffice to say THEY claim the modern 9mm ammo does as well or better than 40 S&W or 45 ACP in terms of penetration [ 12 to 18 inches] and importantly is much more economical to shoot. They also state wound cavitation is much less important than penetration. Just as important, they found on shootout simulations, that agents who missed 70 to 80% with 40 S&W or 45 ACP, significantly improved their hit performances with the easier to handle 9mm.

So there it is---no input from the Armed Forces as yet.

Flugelhorn--Easy, much like the cornet or trumpet

Didgeridoo--Don't have any experience, so I will wait till I get to Aussyland and take a lesson. Actually, the Didg is built like a Shofar [Ram's Horn], and works the same way, with vibrating lips and breath providing the drive to the desired tone. I can play the Shofar, so I bet I can play the Didg.

I prefer .45 acp. I have no problem with miss targets with my 1911, XDM or something else pistol in .45 acp, but weight of bullet is 6,5 grams more than 9mm .

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Unless you wear a football or hockey helmet. Otherwise you will risk performing a prefrontal lobotomy on yourself. Take it from someone who has tried it!!!!!!

Under Obamacare

you can get another one, whether you need it, or not. But, if it is done with 44 Mag or 50 S&W recoil, you are expelled from the club.

9mm is more Army-like

This move to 9mm may have something to do with lining up with military small arms rather than an argument on projectile tumble vs size in the hand... Just a thought.

It's waiting for final review and approval and mentions the .40, but the move away from 9mm is not likely for the army as a whole. Contrary to some of the press releases Beretta has put out, their contract expires in under five years and it is not likely to be renewed. Rumor has it the M&P is a strong frontrunner, but in talking to a shooting buddy who works for capabilities development branch, no real decision has been made on what the criteria for a replacement will actually be. I may have a job lined up on the team in charge of the Modular Pistol Program, but I'm really not sure I want to stop being a pistol instructor for the MP school.

Just don't know if I want it. Teaching new soldiers to shoot should be important, but our program sucks and the powers that be don't intend to let us fix it.

I still hate him for when the government had no money he told all the families and the media that the soldiers killed in action, that the families would have to pay for all burial expenses.

This shit comes from the chief of training who has been in place for far too long.

If they're looking for a universal round that non experienced shooters, people of smaller stature, females etc... Can easily be trained with, I don't see a problem with 9x19. With advances in projectile expansion and +p velocities, I think it's a good choice. Oh, and with the amount of rounds they seem to be discharging per shooting, the extra mag cap sure can't hurt
