Finally got my new guns
Hey guys. Sorry I've been gone for a while. But just wanted to say thanks again for all your help and input on my gun purchases. My first was Springfield XD-40 which I used to qualify for my CCP. The second was actually a gift from my wife a new DPMS A3-L16 with 2-30rd and 2-20rd mags. Maybe not what I would have bought but a good gun none the less. Next I decided I would rather have a 45 so I traded the Springfield for a new Colt Gold Cup. I love these guns! My brother and I have been out to a range close to his home. It's owned by an retired military guy and his wife. Great people. They have a lot of current military and law enforcement personnel working the range. These guys were very helpful to a couple of rookies. They took the time to show us all aspects of our guns and the range. So thanks again for all your help. |

How did the Gold Cup handle big, wide hollowpoints? I ask because in the past there were feeding problems with them. If yours is recent production, the ramp & throat job that used to be necessary may not be needed.

I haven't tried any hollow points yet. But, the gun is new production. I am in the process of buying up ammo right now. I shot FMJ's at the range just to get used to the pistol. I will say this. The gun was way smoother than I expected. I was banging the center of the target at 20-25yrds with no problem. For a rookie I was well pleased. I will update you guys as I cycle through different loads and let you know what if any problems I encounter.

I carry hydra shocks or winchester's in 70 my series gold cup and she works like a charm. I have made no mods or changes to it.

I have put a Fedral hydra shocks, Winchester, and Speer hollow points thru my gold cup and all have ran perfectly
