Firewood Experts

I had to take down a 50' tulip tree yesterday. I didn't know what kind of tree it was until my tree man told me. It looks like it's considered a softwood. Is it worth cutting & splitting for firewood?
Thanks guys,

It's too late for me, save yourself.

of my heating. I've used all kinds of hard and soft woods. Of course, hard wood is much much better for heat but I burn soft woods during the day and evening and the longer lasting hard wood at night.
I've used wood that was so deteriorated it was like balsa, poof! but hey, it still put out heat. :<)
