A Florida Firearms Enthusiast
A life long love of the beauty in engineering of firearms and the fun I've had with them. Always thought gun folks were some of the nicest people I've ever met and I'm glad I stumbled upon this site. I grew up in Massachusetts, I got a gun permit for $2.00 when I was 16 and I didn't even own a gun. It has changed since then, it's hard to get a carry permit. Started to get political in the 80's and helped elect Neal Knox as President of NRA to stop giving away our 2nd Amendment rights. Still political today and work hard to get people to respect the unique right we have in this country and to fight to preserve it. I try to take new shooters to the range any chance I get, I start them off with a .22 and they usually fall in love with plinking and that sometimes converts them for life. Presently live in the Gunshine State! Anyways...... From oldest to newest: Thanks for letting me ramble...... -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome. Nice collection. The S&W 1911, that's pretty new isn't it?

About 2 years old. Got the stainless one because it looked pretty! I was able to find a "reasonable" Crimson Trace Laser for it on Ebay.

Oh, I thought they had just started making them for the Centennial.

Mine was purchased when they just started putting out the 1911. Not sure if Smith ever had them before... the price was around $800 and it shoots well for me
I think I know the one you are talking about. I think it was an E series with a lot of tuning done to it, fancy fish scaled grips, night sites, etc.

My extended family still resides on the North Shore in Beverly MA. I have brothers in NH.
My family lives in Fort Lauderdale. If you know the area, there is a nice place to shoot on the edge of the Everglades called Markam Park. It has bike trails, camping, RC Plane area. It's right off Alligator Alley in Sunrise.

Started producing them in 2004 for production...
The new E series is nice without question. But not new by any means. There isn't much you could really do to a 1911 which hasn't been done in the past excluding a Polymer Frame version.
I dunno, just like every Pistol there are people who love them and those who pee on the every chance they get.

If you are talking about the original plastic that came ut , I don't know 30-some years ago, and was limited to the states of how many you could have in a clip etc. My brother was a motorcycle cop then nd we bought one each together. It was a itch to get used too. It was light and of course no safety, in them days was weird, and when you pulled the trigger it took a while for the un to settle down and get a good aim again. I traded mine back in, he had to keep his, untill he went to K-9 and then graded up himself. But that was jersey law, and they were and still are the strictest state for Guns. I am probaably leading you down the wrong path. So wait for somebody like reaper, LBC ISD ETC. John
