FAL's

yes, snake. FAL's are all over the place. You can find them anywhere and if you're feeling crafty, you can pick up a parks kit pretty cheap

Try small counties' armies that you'd not rate and you'll be amazed, for instance, the Italians issue some very very fine weapons to their marksmen that you'd never figure they'd get hold of... and then sometimes the sell 'em off.

Im thinkin on checkin Trader Jerry's next month and see if he has a FAL. And specific designs on FAL's? what I mean is which design would be best for the money?

The HK came after the CETME, HK bought the design and rights and produced it as the G3.

The Spanish did get it right on that one for sure...

CETME

I've heard good and bad reviews... anyone own one? I hear people blow it off a lot as just a G3 clone... but at that price, it would make a good truck rifle. I have also heard a lot about the CAI monkeys and their sloppy assembly. I am building a 5.56 AR that I was planning on keeping in the truck, but would rather have a .308 (I don't think I want to leave my M1A or a .308 AR in the truck). I an interested in any negative comments about the CETME and its mags. Would it be better just to go with a FAL for a little extra $$? I understand FAL parts are more accessable and easier to fix

AZEX, where you at? I know you have a basement full of FALs and other goodies... would I be better off letting you work your magic?

"The Spanish state company CETME (Centro de Estudios Tecnicos de Materiales Especiales - Special Materials Technical Studies Center, now known as Empresa National Santa Barbara) was founded in 1949 to develop various small arms for Spanish army. At about the same time it employed the German arms designer Ludwig Vorgrimler, who worked for the famous Mauser Werke in Germany before and during the World War 2. The Vorgrimler was the designer of the experimental German assault rifle, known as "Gerat 06" or Stg.45(M). This rifle was not manufactured in any quantities, but its design served as a basis for further development at the CETME, and more important, at the another German company, Heckler & Koch, which obtained a license for the Vorgrimler / CETME rifle design circa 1957. This deal later resulted in the famous family of the H&K weapons, like the G3 and HK33 assault rifles, HK21 and HK23 machine guns, MP5 submachine guns and numerous other small arms that achieved a worldwide popularity. All those weapons are built using the delayed blowback system of operation, designed by Vorgrimler and his men at the Mauser in 1945 and refined by CETME."

Now you can let them know that the CETME was the original....

Yes, CIA can put some real trash out, but then again, it can be tuned up easily enough..

You might check out the website for DSA . Doublestar has the sporter called the Sa-58 and it is american inch reciever. It has been a while, but I think it takes both inch and metric mags. One real fun way to go through 308's in a hurry, but lust can't be measuredin bullets alone. Check into finding a Trilux scope and mount as well. The shroud swaps so quickly it's amazing. The only thing you may have to do is clip two tabs to make it fit.

Which way are my people going? I have to lead them there!
