Hamp updated image

Since the recent changes to the site, my old tutorial has become somewhat dated so I decided to take some time to update it. Up front your photo will need to be in JPEG as GIF, BMP etc will not work, if you have a picture in one of those formats here is a helpful tool to convert it to JPEG: http://www.coolutils.com/Online/Image-Converter/

1: UPLOADING A PICTURE

To upload a picture, mouse your pointer (I love mousing my pointer lol) to your avatar at the top of the screen and in the drop down box choose 'Create/Upload'.

You will now be in the 'Create Content' screen, there you will choose 'Image".

You will now be in the 'Create Image' screen, the three fields that MUST be filled in are 'Title', 'Category' and 'Type', 'body' is optional if you want to say something about your picture. Now scroll down and click 'choose file' select the desired picture from your computer and click 'save'.

Now here is the 'new' feature, beside your uploaded picture will be a box that says 'GunsLot code' If you ever want to post a copy of your picture in another thread, you copy that code and paste it in that thread.

2: UPLOADING VIDEO

Basically the same as above except in 'Create Content' you will choose 'Video'

You will now be in the 'Create Video' screen, again the fields that MUST be filled out are the same as above.

Now unless something has changed that I am unaware of, your video must be hosted to a hosting site like YouTube etc, you cannot just upload a WMV from your computer.

To upload your video, copy the 'embed code' from the hosting site and paste it in the 'embed code' box on Gunslot and press 'Save' and now your video will be uploaded.

The same new feature applies to videos, copy the GS code and paste it in a different thread if you wish and your video will appear there.

3: CREATE/CHANGE YOUR AVATAR

To Create/Change your avatar, mouse your pointer (here we go again lol) up to your avatar and select 'My Profile' and then 'Account' and scroll down to 'Picture' and click 'choose File' and pick your avatar. (Special note) when changing your avatar it may be necessary to completely delete your old picture before uploading your new one.

I hope that this is helpful to those of us that are not as computer savvy as others...........WELCOME TO GUNSLOT!!!!!

First off thanks Hamp.. this really is a help for us tech short buses..

Like Sams photoshopped guns, porn.. perfect.. and could be part of the "unofficial" gunslut logo..

I was reading a little history i thought i would share with you guys after lusting after Sams picture of his A-5's on the shottie thread (Hamp thanks again for adding my pistolas to other one) I decided to do a bit of reading on the A-5.. condensed info that follows is from a book "classic firearms" that one of the girls got me for Christmas/BD.. yeah i know a better person would remember which and what, but alas im not, but still appreciative of a great read that any of you guys would enjoy..If you happen to see it, buy it..

It seems that the A-5 was always Browning's favorite.. think about it, of all of his designs.. 1911, 1890 winchester pump, hi power, infamous "ma deuce" 50 machine gun (and the round it fired), the BAR.. ok hate wiki posts as opposed to memory and running out of designs, but safe to say that John Browning was the preeminent firearms inventor (note i did not say mfg) of the ages..

I thought the fact that this was his favorite (per biographers) would be of some interest to Sam and those of you who have one.. Another fact on this. I remember reading some time ago that he had a less than cordial relationship with the Winchester corp.. Seems this stems from the A-5 Design.. Remember this was the first of the auto loading shotguns.. He had taken the design to Winchester as they were currently producing the 22 pump rifle.. Winchester turned Browning down on the deal.. Seems they felt an auto loading shot gun was just to radical an idea.. At this point Browning took the design to Remington..

This is where the story has an almost "Hollywood" turn of events.. Browning is in the waiting room of the Remmi corp.. and the pres of the corporation one Marcus Hartley dies of a heart attack.. So since Browning is already on the east coast.. He cables Belgium and heads over to Fabric National.. (FN) .. they were already producing a little 32 auto for him, and bought the rights to the A-5.. So the first of the Browning's were the FN, or Belgium Browning's.. When the patent rights on this expired Remington was once again brought into the fold, which is why you can buy the almost identical Browning hump back manufactured by Remington..

Ok all.. its late and time for me to spend some time with my Baby.. see you guys tonight..

during WWI while Belgium was under Germanies occupation. All the parts were produced under Brownings Patents. I have a Rem Mdl11 and it is almost identical to the A5 save a few markings and movement of safety to behind the trigger (bad mistake) and or eliminating the safety and magazine cutoff.

p.s. Remingtons President at the time left Browning waiting for almost an hour, so John got up and left without meeting with him at the time.

my book is pretty clear that the pres (M. Hartley) had a heart attack while Browning was waiting to meet him.. wonder if thats why he waited or which is the accurate history..

Yep the book also stated the mag cutoff was the big diffrence.. I do wonder about the "heart attack" story.. if thats fiction or not.. here is the verbatim from my "classic firearms"..

"Following an angry meeting with Winchesters Bennett in Jan of 1902, Browning finally collected his prototypes and walked out.. After Browning left, he called Marcellus Hartley , president of Remington Arms, who invited Browning to meet with him that afternoon. While Browning sat waiting for him in his reception room the telephone rang with the news that Hartley had died from a heart attack a few min. earlier..". Thats typed not pasted and copied appreciate the effort ya lop...
