Raffy,
yes, from what I understand you can use them for self defense. The bonus is, they break apart once they hit something, so if you live with close neighbors, you don't have to worry about you bullet going through the asshole trying to rob your home and then going into your neighbors house and hitting them.

raffy, frangible

Frangible rounds were originally designed for use indoors and at carnival shooting galleries. They are also used when shooting steel targets as they allow you to shoot steel much closer in than FMJ without fear of being injured by splatter. They can be very effective for defense, especially inside a home since overpenetration is almost nonexistant. I have Extreme Shock frangibles in my Beretta that I keep in my spare bathroom, but I don't really like them for self defense outside the home as the possibility exists that I may have to fire through barrier material such as auto glass. You can use them, and they can be devastating in soft tissue
