Pahrump, Nevada, November 12, 2008: I am on the road, ready to break camp, after completing the Front Sight[FS] Four Day Defensive Handgun Course.
As I pull my weary old dude bones out of bed to begin the long trek home, I will say this, even if it pisses off some of our community's citizens: I have been shooting and handling guns of every description, since my Red Ryder at about age 7 or 8 years old. I thought I knew a lot, including effective defense and tactics. Forget it folks....I knew hardly anything, and I am certain from talks with my fellow class members, most of you are in the same boat. As testimony to the validity of that opinion, were the almost astounding number of LEO's in attendence. It was a record week--560 students attended, and more than half that total came for the 4 day defensive handgun course.
In closing this Part 1 of the report, I tell you this: I am far more confident than I have ever been about situation assesment, decision making, and my total skill at arms. Remarkably, my wife who liked handgun shooting, but was somewhat afraid of guns and gun handling, came out of that course certain, but not overconfident, that she now has real skill at arms, and knows how/what to practice and constantly improve.
Too old to fight, Too old to run, guess that's why I carry a gun! "would someone show this asshole the way out of town".[Rabbi Avram Belinski-aka "The Frisco Kid"]
