gauge reducers

I have recently acquired a very old break action 16 gauge shotguns but I'm hesitant to shoot it I was just sitting here thinking of a safe method to fire it and came up with a adapter that allows you to fire a 410 shell out of a 16 ga shotgun. So I searched the web and found that it indeed already exists. Does anyone have experience with these or own one any advice is helpful. Thanks in advance!
