Gen 3 vs Gen 4 Glock

I got to put about 30 rounds thru a newly purchased G27 today,my friends gun,it's a Gen 4,first off it performed flawlessly( there was about 6 of us shooting it,200 rounds total,i don't know if everybody shot the same round count for you math wizzs out there) thru all 200 rounds, brand new gun,hey it's a Glock right.

I liked the mag release better than my Gen 3 G26,he hadn't installed any optional backstrap yet,it had tritrium sights,he went thru the 4 holsters i brought and settled on that slim little number that ISD made, but he's a lefty and prefers crossdraw,ISD you might have a customer if you could angle the gun down just a bit to accomidate crossdraw.

Fuck if i can remember if anybody has compared the two generations here but who has and what did you think of them

ISD and holster II

I am in need of a new IWB style for my PPS as my old one is getting 'long in the tooth', I am happy to support anyone on here that makes a living or is working on the side with related products.

ISD and holsters...

I don't know if he got a web site up yet. I got a holster on order from him, and am VERY excited to see how it turns out.

But, I keep pecking at it. Hell, my damn business cards are not done either and thats been on the do now list for over a year. :p

But, yeah, still stabbing my fingers on a regular basis. ha!

really...

Thing is every time I turn around and plan on time to do it something comes up. I just picked up two CZ Tacticals from a guy who wants them tuned and twisted. So, it will still be a little while for
the site.

Ronin, I'm supposed to pick up a 225 from my brother that a friend of his is loaning to me for a pattern design.

Hamp, I have two different IWB's I make for the PPS. Just needs specifics, color, lh/rh.

Lucky, cross draw is no an issue depending on which design? As far as the ambi belt loop one goes, all I have to do is flip it over and sew the line for the trigger guard for it. Billy carrys two Coonans now, one strong side and one cross draw.

LOL got to luv the guy, he digs things that go bang.

I am finishing up a Black Sting Ray Pancake for one of his Coonans. Once done I'll post some pics, kinda like this one allot...

Gen 3 verse Gen 4

Saint Petersburg Police Department traded in 530 Glock Gen 2 Model 22's for Gen 4's with a sweet buy back deal.

One week after the start of issuing requals rolled around. All 530 Gen 4 mdl 22's went back and they are now getting Gen 3 21's in return, gun for gun.

The reason behind this was the fact that ejected rounds kept hitting everyone in the face kind of hindering follow up shots. lol

gen 4 glock

I know they were having some issues with their dual recoil spring assemblies (RSA's) and their extractors. I know people who bought the early gen 4 were replacing those with aftermarket parts. I assume they've worked the kinks out by now, but i'm not sure. ISD- Yea, a lot of people complain that about 25% of the brass is coming back and hitting them in the face. I didn't have any issues with the few rounds I put through a gen 4 21. If I were buying another glock, I'd still try to get a gen 3 because I've had 4 of them (19,23,20,21) without any problems what so ever.

Ditto

Same thoughts on the Gen 3 / 4 shooting.

I think Glock kind of messed up with making some of the changes. Changeable back straps is great, but I probably would have kept it at that. Well maybe put together a trigger kit for it also so they could have some of that market also.

The back strap being changeable is great for a duty weapon. There was a noticeable rise in the scores with the gen 4, for the women and guys with smaller hands. That was one of the reasons that they decided to look seriously at the M&P but S&W rep wasn't doing any kind of dealing and the Glock rep was bound and determined to not loose the department.

Glock RSA

I read (can't remember the source) that Glock was replacing the RSAs on the Gen 4. They know which serial numbers have the problem and sent out a recall notice to fix the issue on their dime. I would recommend checking the Glock website or call them to see if your weapon fell under the recall notice.
As for the extractor, they had some problems in early production, but that has been fixed. I believe they went back to the gen 3 extractor, but that was about a month or two after the introduction of the gen 4 and I can not remember the story exactly.

There "might" be a Glock carbine at the SHOT show in Las Vegas.
He actually said there "would" be one, but couldn't offer more details so I'm leaving myself an out.
