Now we just need to get the NFA/GCA revoked. The number of Class III and Destructive devices is dropping (as designed).

I'd like to see an increase of ownership of these by responsible patriotic citizens.

A part of the NFA (if I understand correctly) I don't mind so much. If the government wants a tax stamp for certain devices, I can see that in order to fund the administrative department. Although, I can't see oversight on granting whom is allowed to recieve these.

The GCA is just flat out unconstitutional.

Honestly, I am just assuming. Like I said, I'm not positive I understand all of NFA/GCA, but from what I understand, only existing devices are allowed and new ones can't be licenced. No importation either. So with all that, I would assume that, over time, the numbers eventually decrease as weapons suffer permanent failure, get lost, stolen, destroyed, confiscated, etc.
Also, if a person dies who owns one and they have no will and no heir, the governement will take these devices, right? I doubt they will make it available again for the public.

But I could be wrong. I don't know for sure.

"In 1986, the United States government banned the future importation and domestic manufacture of machine guns for civilian consumption, and the already limited inventory of Class 3 weapons has since diminished substantially. At a rate now more accelerated than ever, these weapons are ending up in the hands of collectors who have no intention of ever selling them. The effect is twofold: Class 3 arms are growing increasingly scarce, and their prices are rising accordingly. Further Federal bans in 1989 and 1994 relating to semiautomatic clones of military weapons have spurred similar trends in that arena as well. Thus, the price of a quality, collector-grade Class 3 or semiautomatic weapon has spiraled beyond the comprehension of the average buyer."

And check out these prices for example http://www.gunsamerica.com/Search/Category/952/2/Guns/Rifles/Class-3/Cla... Cheap!

What I meant was with a combination of these two acts, first to restrict the ownership and production, and then the ban of importation, the number of Class III firearms is shrinking. Slowly, admittedly, but it is. As the gun -banners designed. The verbiage is always, "we don't want to take away YOUR guns".
It's divide and conquer. Don't anger all gun owners. Just the new ones that don't have. Then, eventually, the ones that do will die off. Their guns will slowly break, get lost, or get confiscated. And when the numbers are small enough, outright ban them. Then they'll divide and conquer aqain. They're already starting. "Oh we don't want your hunting guns or sport rifles, we just want to get rid of all those nasty semi-auto handguns." Many hunters and rifle sport shooters that don't bother with hand guns will go along with it.

It's just like that thing about the Nazis:

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I was Protestant.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Well, that's my fear, anyway.

divide and conquer is exactly what they do.my good friend/huntin buddy is a prime example of how this happens,he believes in our 2nd amendment, but also believes a belted machine-gun is more dangerous than bolt action rifle...he admits he has no problem with the ban of automatics and sound suppressors because they are "only designed for one thing"he's a pretty rational guy so when i see him say things like that i know what the bozos must think...divide and conquer.

longarm is an "assault rifle" and therefore is not needed by sportsmen, even the $2000+ Colts.

Target pistols, how about a Hammerli SP20? $2000 and they had to get an exemption from California's insane assault weapons bans along with a list of other target pistols, mainly .22 and .32. Rifle shooters don't give a shit, those are pussy gun matches.

There is no getting around it. Our own people are partly to blame for the political mess we're in.
In the 1980s the term "assault rifle" was fairly new, the news "reporters" loved it, it sounded very deadly, great headlines.
Unfortunately a lot of gun enthusiasts liked it too, they must have gotten boners saying they had an assault rifle.
That gave the politicians another public relations bludgeon to beat us with.
The whole mess sux
No one needs to jump in my shit here, I know I'm being irrational :<))

"Sporting guns"

See, these examples you and Jay provided are exactly what I'm seeing. The weaker minded are falling into this, "It's only good for killin'" and "not for sporting purposes". Just when did this happen? That people started believing the 2nd amendment was only for sporting purposes?

Hunting and shooting sports are great, but the PURPOSE of the 2nd is arms for killing enemies.
Enemies that would rub you of life, liberty, or property and enemies of the Republic (foriegn AND domestic)

We got to do what we can to educate those around us so that we can fight this unseen enemy that is trying to destroy America from within.

happily tell them they are for shooting paper targets, competing against myself for a higher score. That's 100% true unless someone forces me to change that.

You GS guys are the only ones that know I have a CC permit, did not even tell wife.
Yep, that's what they are for alright, I've never shot anyone and have no plans to do so in the future...but.
If a person tries to do harm to me, my family or an innocent I may just have to pop one on them. We'll see but my guns are for making holes in paper until circumstances change that.

To liberals, a person prepared to kill another FOR ANY REASON is a blood-thirsty barbarian, not me, I only make holes in paper, for now.

Due to bullshit legislation, class III is a rich man's sport, far beyond the reach of you nor I (unless you got 20+ grand laying around).

Let me share this story.. i was down in Wickenburg at my local gun store.. Store had locals in and one guy who had ordered (was receiving) a Nagant.. He was from CA and was talking about why he had to come here to order the rifle.. One of the guys sitting around said.. Maybe we should cooperate on "some" issues.. He was afraid the hard line stance of the NRA would lead to a total ban.. He articulated his point really well.. i for one saw it, and understood where he was coming from.. The guy buying the Nagant turned around and gave him (and us) a run down on whats happened in CA.. That was the "rational" approach of the pro gun lobby in CA, he knew his stuff.. dates, state laws, the individuals involved..

Bottom line is that the approach that Jays friend above was in favor of lead to the most restrictive bans in the Nation.. Only the total bans of Chicago and DC (obviously overturned by SCOUS) were worse.. This guy was impassioned, and rational.. It's very clear they (No gun types) understand the best way to achieve there wish is thru.

1) divide and conquer
2) efforts to be "moderate" and gently erode the 2nd.. not just appeal/overturn it..

I wish i could remember all the small "bans" that lead to CA's current mess, Jay help me if you can think of any that apply.. The funding for gun control is nation wide, the agenda is driven by those who feel more comfortable with out an armed populace on a political level, who control well meaning but naive liberals that are the base of the movement.. They have almost as much funding as the NRA.. and excluding the SCOTUS decisions visa vise DC and Chicago they have been successful.. It aint over for them.. Goes with out saying it can't be for us..

I agree with ya saint.... I want to comment on Jays efforts.. I'm thinking the poor guys now on some sorta list.. that whole issue of carrying an unloaded weapon was stupid beyond belief.. I couldn't have gone thru that bureaucratic crap that Jay did, and with a valid reason for asking.. More than thought and word control at work here..

This brings me to LLE.. Sir (to quote you) i have no idea how were lucky enough to have you on this site.. but sure glad you are..witt and wisdom in abundance. I'm starting to get all choked up .. ... Great now my eye smells like shit..

I'm bouncing off the wall with CA's gun laws. Thought it was bad enough that you had to carry "barney fife" mode.. Wasn't aware that they were restricting all carry.. Of course no one can give you info Jay. thats part of the deal.. I'm surprised that the power hungry "state'rs" didn't tell you to JUST DO IT.. Course it's fine to break into city hall, destroy what ever is found and burn the flag.. Jay get the family together and do a reversed Jedd Clampett.. go due east about 9 hrs and you've hit the land of normal..

Can't stick now, back later.. but curious on our FL boys.. ISD TG.. you guys vote.. if you have a thread and i missed it sorry..

greg asked me to pipe up with ca law that i knew of,so i went online looking for the new 2012 firearms penal codes etc... gov brown signed a bill making open carry of (unloaded) now as well as loaded handguns illegal as of jan1.decided i wanted the whole story so i looked up ca doj and couldn't get definite answer so i called local sherif dispatch and got another number, called and was told they cannot give me a quote of the current laws.was told to google it.when i explained that i had already done that, and keep finding myself on ca websites with 2008-2010 updates they told me to google the ca doj gun law while they put me on hold to answer another call.when she came back i got "any luck"? NO i answered irritated, its next to impossible to be compliant in the state of ca."again sir,i cannot comment or quote directly on that"then she took my name address and told me the sherifs wouldn't be able to answer because I'm in the city, they took my number and told me id be contacted by a city cop,i just got off the horn with him the convo went something like this

me -looking for current ca law as applies to posession ownership and transport of firearms in ca.
cop-what do you want to know?
me-heard jerry brown signed new law as of jan 1 prohibiting open carry of handguns and am trying to find all ca law on the subject, does it apply to long arms too?
cop-um,heard something about that......
me-where can i find a list of laws for instance where do you guys look if I'm a suspect and you want to know if I'm compliant or not?
cop-just google the penal code, gun law is around 2500.

is it just me or does it sound like the state of ca law enforcement
A dosnt know their own laws
B relies on a private internet company (google)to inform their citizens
C dosnt want you to be compliant?
it should be easy to give me the fucking web address of a ca government agentcy that will have ALL the MOST RECENT regulation.im being very specific here.i speak better than i type, and i think you guys all know what I'm asking for right?
hate this state?anyone need a new neighbor?haha

I fled in 1989.

I was stunned when I learned that DMV is no longer one "Catch 22" after another. They seem to be helpful now. Do they allow you to register your car a year in advance so you don't do anything next year except get your new license plate sticker out of the mail box and put it on your plate? They do here, cool huh?
It cost me $7.50 for 2 years registration on my 2005 Chevy. I think Arkansas may have had on-line registration either before or at the same time as CA.

They did not miss a beat with their gun control though, since I left they've banned everything that ejects a projectile, you can be arrested for possesing an assault pez despenser with Donald Duck's head on it.

I love living in Arkansas, so far no one really wants to get into other people's shit.
I detest California, I'm happy to be 1600 miles east! Take that from a native Californian

well no thanks to ca gov or law enforcement finally found a ca gov site with (full list of gun law penal codes) as far as i know that is...yes its illegal to carry an unloaded/loaded handgun, unless directly going to or from hunting(unloaded only) or if engaged in shooting at public/private property(loaded/unloaded)or at a gun show sale or swap meet where guns are sold displayed or repaired(unloaded only) didn't see anything about long guns being banned for open carry though.ca dosnt recognize a rifle 16"barrel or shotgun18"barrel as being concealable upon your person, guess thats why?you goat be able to read and remember every single paragraph and section/subsection because it always says except where pertaining to(fill in the blank) or in accordance with(fill in the blank) shall mean as described in (fill in the blank)

(fill in the blank) california!haha.
my heads spinning from all this lawyer speak...more potent than a 6 pack (except where pertaining to 5% or higher)lol.
