I've now entered the Glock club. I went to the shop today and was looking at the XD9 and decided it was too much money the kind young man behind the counter asked me if I'd like to take a look at a Glock I said eh what the hell. By the time I was done I walked outta there with my very own Glock 23.

Anything special I should know about them? The guy at the shop tld me that they have a polygonal rifling so I shouldn't shoot straight lead ammo through it because at some point it could foul up the weapon and it would explode because the bullet wouldn't be able to exit the barrel.

You should not shoot lead through it, but if you do, just run a bore brush through it every few magazines. If you have factory sights, get rid of them. I now have a ew favorite set of sights. The Heinie Straight Eight Slant pro sights are wonderful. Be careful when you shoot if you use a high grip. I don't remember having the problem with my G22, but my G19 and G26 catch the web of my hand with the back of the slide ervery so often. It doesn't hurt, but it could be a distraction during training.

I go to MidwayUSA for everything. I have thought about sending my G19 in to Robar for a grip reduction and texturing, as well as a melt treatment for the edges. The gun doesn't need it, but I kinda like the idea of carrying a custom gun.
