Good deal or not?

Let me know your opinions on this weapon, price etc.

1. M&P15T (AR15)
2. Used (400 rounds)
3. Being sold to pay bills
4. 9 magazines (1-20rd, 8-30rd filled with ammo:Corbon & Hornady TAP-FTD)
5. Original Grip & Tan Grip
6. Original Hand Guards & Tan Hand Guards
7. Aftermarket Jard trigger (3.5 lbs, installed) Original trigger A.R.M.S.
8. Crimson Trace Laser Foregrip (Paid $500)
9. Tactical sling Pelican 1700 Case

I have a buddy in the area where it's being sold, so I am going to have him check it out, make sure there is nothing wrong with it.

Thanks for your help

If it were mine I'd ask $1700.00 $1800.00. For all of the accessories and he wants $1600.00? You better buy it now because it won't last long. The mags alone go for $17.00-$25.00 a piece. Also EVERY BODY wants these right now. I think it's a great price for all of that gear and gun.

Let us know.

Really?

The gun is 1600 from what I saw...(new), it has at least 600-700 dollars worth of parts minimum (unless I am way off the mark), 9 magazines and 260 rounds? You still think only 1200? I paid 1080 for mine new (with only two magazines/case, no bullets, no sling...and nothing else extra. Am I missing something? I am not disregarding what you wrote Sam, but can you expand a bit? Do you think the S&W version is overpriced?

My thought is, Pkato

You are not buying a gun, new from a dealer. You have no warranties or guarantees. Caveat emptor! You are buying a used, albeit not very much, gun. So my price reflects that. Leave yourself some wiggle room in the offer. If you must have it and he comes back at something less than $1600 then you have made a deal! I know nothing of the gun, just "The Art of the Deal"

When I buy anything used, I have to assume the worst is going to happen as soon as I take ownership of it (baggage from that 87 Suburban I bought years ago)and how much it will take to fix it and go from there!!!

appreciate the input thus far. I actually tried to buy an SKS recently and at this point, I feel that I have been ripped off, still working on that one. So, I won't buy a used gun online again (new yes, but not used unless I have someone local to check it out). My friend in Oklahoma will check it out and I will have him oversee the shipment if I purchase it.

first off, the M&P 15T is a good quality AR, in my opinion.
Second, 260 rds, of good quality defense ammo will cost you a few hundred bucks (just make sure they're not filled with wolf and a couple TAP's on top).
You can get used mags cheap, but even figure $10 a piece you would still pay about $100 for the mags.
A good tactical sling will run another $100.
A Pelican case is $200 new.
As you said, the laser grip will run you in the four hundreds new, so figure $300 used.
Trigger job from a gunsmith will run $100
Handguard and grip, $50 (if you were gonna buy it).

I say this guy has anywhere between $2,700-$3,500 into the rifle and accessories.

If it has really only been used for 400 rds, there should be no wear, and basically, he just broke it in for you.

I would try to get him to knock some more off, just because I always like to see what I can get away with... but I think its a pretty good deal, if you're looking to buy an AR.

If that rifle was within my area I would buy it in a second.

I have to say it is a very good deal. As long as there are no obvious defects, 400 rounds is still practically new in a modern firearm. No warranties may be an issue, but with a modular weapon like that, warranty work isn't worth the wait anyway. I agree with hillbilly. I would buy the rifle if I was in the market for an AR. I agree you should try to negotiate, but with the Obam-mania and the accessories, the seller is likely to sell the gun at asking price.

I bought one new a couple of months back. Let me say, it is an outstanding rifle. No doubt. I just wanted one, so there you go. Anyway, I got an extra mag, sling, sling swivel, and 2 boxes of less than premium ammo. The tatical comes with a bunch of stuff, rails and all, and a case. By the time I escaped from the store, it cost me 1540. I have no idea how you tell how many rounds except by looking at the bolt. But it really doesn't make much difference to me as long as everything looks good. Sounds like quite a deal to me.
