Got to Shoot to Three 1911s For My Birthday
I got to shoot two Springfield 1911s, and a Rock Island 1911 at my local pistol range. They had a Rock Island 1911 .45 caliber. The Rock Island 1911 got three rounds shot trough it, and it wasn't feeding right. Either it was a bad magazine, or something, So, i swap it out for a Springfield 1911. It shot amazing. Then I got to shoot my friend's Springfield 1911. The trigger pull was really smooth, and it was really clean, and he traded the grips, and modified the grips to accept duel finger safeties. Always keep your powder dry, and your eyes on the target. |

I love my Springfield Ultra Compact 1911! Never says no, no matter what kind of ammo I feed it. Awesome gun!
Gunslinger_USA
I never met a Springfield that I didn't like. I was looking online, and I came a cross a 40 drum magazine for a 1911. I didn't realize they made such a thing!
MattyTheJet
Where? Point me in this direction, please, for I need it for the zombies in Miami!

Cheaper Than Dirt has really good deals when it comes to guns and stuff like that.

Love CTD!

it seems everyone hates that magazine....
Gunslinger_USA
Why is that? I think it would be really heavy being loaded up with 40 rounds of .45 caliber for a pistol.
MattyTheJet
It seems they don't feed reliably, if at all.
Gunslinger_USA
They do make a 15 round extend magazine for the 1911 as well.

I've seen a couple of those, and even looked at buying a 10 rounder I saw at a local gunshop recently were it not for the guy at that shop being.... how to put this nicely? Oh, yeah! NUTS!
Gunslinger_USA
I don't tend to have that problem at my local gun shops. the peple are nice and they know alot know about the products they're selling.
MattyTheJet
Sadly this particular guy was greedy to the point of being nuts. He figured since 10 was almost twice as many as 7 and he sold 7 round mags for $35 a piece the 10 rounder should be $75. It's still hanging on his wall.

have to agree with the "slinger" . I've seldom to the point of ... maybe one time.. had issues with shop staff.. Talking smaller maw and paw type stores that i try to frequent as opposed to the "big box" Cab/Bass pro/walmart experiance.. These places, obviously the first two, are great for most new gun prices, but i tend to like the older iron, and seem to have more luck with smaller indipendent stores.. In any event the knowledge "bar" in normaly higher with the small independent store..
Most always the owners have years of experiance, and "if" they have employees the owners most always pick someone who is sharper on gun knowledge than gun selling..
It's also important to remember when dealing with the "indies" that thier wholesale prices are going to be a lot more than the big box competition..

I like to support the local "mom and pop" stores if I can. Because, in this case, gun stores, they seem more nice and courteous.

I agree with everything you said here, Greg. I've had great success with most every independent gun shop I've ever been in. Just had a bad experience with this one. Won't sway me from supporting the locals though.
