Tonight a member of my club argued that handguns and AR style rifles should be banned. "No sporting purpose" arguement.
I JUST WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!
Once the government takes your handguns, then they take the AR's. Next they are after the hunting rifles. Then they take your shotgun because trap shooting is dangerous.
I do not shoot 50 BMG competitions and understand the danger of the rifle BUT I stand united that a responsible gun owner should be able to own and compete with a 50 BMG.

Yes, I have heard them all. Demo, you are right when the take the guns it will end up being all guns. The anti gun people don't want you to have a gun period.

Ban

Yeah, a good bud is a member of an Indy club that is close enough to where we work that we would go there at lunch time sometimes. Just didn't work out. No mag cartridges, no .223, no .17 HMR, no 5.7, etc. I showed up w/ my new AR with a dedicated 22LR upper to try it out and was hasseled.

That's enough for me.

It's too late for me, save yourself.

Has not a clue

This gentleman, at your club, obviously suffers from ignorance beyond my comprehension.

I am just upset with the lack of unity among shooters. Kinda snob stupidity.
We are dealing with New York State trying to re-zone gun clubs into industrial when most are agricultural.
We have a semi auto ban about to pass and a microstamping bill on the stove.
Sooner or later the anti 2A people will get to a firearm they own.
We have been asked "why do you need to shoot a 50 cal", "why do you need to own a handgun"? Next question will be "why do you want to shoot at sporting clays".
Just nonsense

Although the SCOTUS decision in 1938 (I think that's the year) upheld the NFA '34, the majority opinion was that the sawed-off stevens shotgun was not constitutionally protected because it wasn't used by the US military. Obviously this was incorrect, as shotguns were used in WW1 to such great effect that the Germans vowed to kill any American found with a shotgun on sight, but the justices obviously were not made aware of the shotgun being a currently-issued and used weapon in the military. Their point was that the second amendment applied to arms of the sort used by the militia, not to sporting arms. Now if you look at the competition weapons of just the US Army Marksmanship Unit, you'll see a variety of weapons from air guns to machine guns that they use, in addition to the normal military-issued weapons. So according to the decision that uphld the NFA '34, which provided for the GCA '68 and a whole host of later laws, the Browning M2 .50 Machine Gun is just as fit for use by the people as the Browning over/under shotgun. So call you club member a worthless half-man for not being able to defend himself outside the home, as he surely doesn't own a handgun (since they should be banned) and tell him there's no need for his sporting guns as supermarkets sell meat. Then slap the little half-man and film yourself fucking his wife while he's out defending us against the hordes of orange disks
