Washington DC and New York City have had gun bans for years and violent crime has not gone down. Mayor Bloomberg cooked the statistics to show lower crime statistics but the truth about gun bans is an increase of the violent crime.
By reclassifiying violent crimes they have lowered the murder rate in NYC. How do you lower the statistics? By giving plea deals on illegal firearms, pleading murders to manslaughter and pleading shootings down to felony assault. By doing this, Bloomberg has lowered the illegal firearms convictions becuase he no longer prosecutes the firearms charge. By pleading down to manslaughter or felony assault- he can claim firearm crimes are down......

For people who don't respect the law against murder, violating laws prohibiting tools to make murder easier are just another day. Hell, I violated gun laws for years and I'm a good guy. People know these laws don't work, but crime control is just another excuse they use to gain more control over the populace. Unarmed citizens aren't citizens.
