Gun prices
I just got a new flyer from Cabela's. They have a Ruger 10/22 with a pink laminate stock (blecch) for $259.99 ($30 savings). They have the new Ruger SR-22 also. It's the 10/22 in an aftermarket stock to look like an AR. It's $499.99 ($40 savings). Same gun, different stock, $240 more! And to make it worse, in the same flyer, they have a Marlin 795 w/ black synthetic stock for only $99.99 ($50 savings). I've lived too long - there are some things I just don't understand. If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man. (Mark Twain).

Cabelas has to make money somehow.now dont get me wrong, the ruger 10/22 is about the best 22 available but the Marlin you mention will probably out shoot it hands down.i do beleive that 10/22 prices are inflated over what they should be.they would sell more of them if it was only 150 bones.

and is in higher demand, hence higher prices. Cabela's is overpriced on EVERYTHING.
