Wonder if we could all seriously plan getting together some time near the end of the year. This amount of time would give everyone that can time to save for it.

Figuring out exactly where the best place to do it would be first.

Taking into consideration people ability to travel, shooting environment ( I mean some place gun friendly for sure ) and possibly where someone has very good standing with the Range. Maybe a camping area near by.

Hell, maybe even set up some kind of Turkey shoot like they used to do up in Maine where I used to live as a kid. People came from all around, shot, hung out, cooked out and otherwise shot the shit over a two or three day period. It was really something and also something I will never ever forget.

anyways...

Just a thought, maybe someone who is a little more organized than me if interested will take it up if enough people want to do it?

Lucky that could work

I wonder if the range is open to all shooters while the Class 3 shoot is taking place?

Maybe I could talk Billy into coming also and brining a few of his. I still want to get that damn MG43 out onto a range and a few others.

Felix is too much of a prat, I mean he is busy and all that too. but he gets kind of twitchy about taking his stuff anywhere except Manatee...

OK, let's not let this one go. There's been a couple time a get-together has been suggested. We should do this. I'd really like to meet you guys (well most of you, anyway lol) in person and swap BS, beers, and range time.

The OK location sounds good to me. Who all is definitely interested? If you are, what suggestions do you have for location? And will Marvin and Quinton actually make GS T-Shirts available so we can bring some?

One more note. It seems a lot of the "geezers" live out in the AZ NM way. We don't want them taking their walkers out too far. lol

Just need the specifics where and when, then do the figuring on the how.

I could drive up your way and then we could see about driving out in our Camry. My wife can make use of my Suburban while I'm gone.

Only way I could fly out there would be to stuff a cork in my ass and eat nothing but refried beans for a month prior to floating out there!

lol

na, I figure if there are a few of us heading out from Florida we can all drive out in one vehicle and cut back on costs. If it comes down to it, we could all jump in my Burban, pull the third bench, load it up and do a road trip in it.

Obama and GoldQuote

During his vacation at Martha's Vineyard - President Obama had been slicing off the tee on every hole.

He asks his Scottish caddy if he has noticed any obvious reasons for his poor tee shots, to which the caddy replies, "Aye, there's a piece of shyt on the end of yer driver. "

The President picks up his driver and cleans the club face, at which point the caddy says, "Noo, the other end."

with Operations Center SOCOM located here there are allot of contract opportunities. I've friends that have been over in Iraq training Police, VIP Security, K9 and a few other things over the last 8 years and they are set for life pretty much now. Though, I don't see them quiting because it's in their blood and they go Bat Shit after sitting for a few months.

Though I'm sure there are plenty the job shops in Texas also.

much to do with catching up in the morning.

I have to clean up my shop area so I can do some work, don't know where I have picked up this bad habit of not putting things away right away these last few months.

if anyone treated my tools like I have been doing I would never let them touch them again.

Have to wait and see where it all ends up.

Also, doing a Machine Gun Shoot is very expensive. I haven't been on the opposite side of the table, but I can tell you from sitting behind the table and collecting the money it is a *very* expensive day for the most part.

I was thinking more of just the bunch of us getting together, shooting the shit, some cans, cooking out and hanging.

Kind of like that Mountain Man get together they hold every year. People pitch tents and hang for a time then go their own way.

We tried this once before.. a couple of us tried to get together in northern NM.. had time issues, and didn't work.. having a June date just might make it possible..

That would be something.. Most restaurants have areas that they will book depending on the size of the crowd.. really could be a lot of fun.. see some "roasting" of all in attendance, the shoot and usual group photos..good stuff..

My only caveat on this would be the "wifies" . Most of us are married, and if we want our wives to support this.. (haven't kidnapped Gloria and driven 5 states for 4 maybe 5 years) thinking we need to have some inducement outside of the group dinner..

Ok.. we don't tell them about the group dinner.. that might help.. Is there something in the area that would be an inducement to the gals.. Gambling, entertainment, (my dance cards booked) maybe we could schedule some sorta mani/pedi thing for them.. glue little AR's on their toes.. Yes lucky you can have this as well..just thinking . sorta..

OK, maybe the OK machine gun shoot is out of question. Any other ideas? I'd really like to do this and meet, shoot the shit, have a drink or two with y'all.

Maybe find a camp site near a public range somewhere central. Like Missouri? Any ideas anyone? Let's make this thing happen.

more I think about it, the more doable it is, mamma doesn't give a shit about guns (culture I recon) over and above defending our family that is. My wife is working in Vegas and she wouldn't want to go anyway (60 miles to the range and back.....she'll pass), anyhoo, I will sleep in the subie (assuming it makes it..lol)...take a week off of work, got four to spare, just might be in the cards afterall, I will have to research KOA's, need a shower....lol

I'm not letting it go.
Here is a directory of public ranges around the country. I've heard Kansas and Missouri as possible locations. Take a look through and see if you can find a spot you like.

But it also doesn't have to be planned out completely at this moment either, give it a little time.

I figure that planning it for fall would probably be best, it gives people time to consider their situation and possibly have time to figure out how to get there(wherever).

It would be cool to figure out somewhere that is closest to the highest number of people interested in going.

Maybe a list of member location by state and then figure out something within 200 miles or so of the largest concentration, the rest of us can get there if we want to one way or another.

One way or another I honestly think it would be something to remember, and would only grow over time.

I met up with ecaman (recently deceased unfortunately) and Oozerat at a gun show here in town, had a wonderful time, one of the best I can remember...My point is that we shoot the shit on site by the hour but we really are a lot alike, more so than a computer screen gives Justice....JMHO

I hear you. But I want it on peoples minds. Stew it over. Get excited about it. You know? Fall sounds good. I think you're right. Gives people time to plan/save and more of us can get together.
I'd like a show of hands, though. How many people like the idea and are up for it if the timing/money situation is right?
