Gunslots Christmas prayer..
When ever i post a prayer i always say one first.. That what ever i write might reflect belief in the best manor, and be as free from my own ego as i can make it.. I pray that now, but first I hope we can take a moment and reflect on the real reason we celebrate Christmas..For some time now it's been less and less about the birth of Christ, and more and more secular, part of this is the fault of Christian theologians.. Some decades ago this same group of theologians, from a number of denominations and universities opened debate on the validity of the 12/25 date for Christmas.. I'm sure we have members who have read these dissenting views, and if were going to look at the holiday in a spiritual light then this deserves to be on the table.. The winter solstice which had been celebrated for uh..ever. happens at this same point in the year, and the fact that it's questionable that the flocks would have been in the field during this time frame,.. Dissenters suggest that the early church could have used this date to bring "pagans" into the fold.. Bottom line is that atheists, and the media have used this division inside our own faiths to make Christmas more a secular as opposed to religious holiday.. Here is a fact my friends, our Lord Jesus was indeed a living being.. I don't know if he was born on the 25th of December.. I know the bible says so.. i also understand the intellectual argument from those who's beliefs are pure that this might be in error.. Regardless of our faiths, and the degree that faith empowers our lives. This holiday is about the birth of all thats good thats the REAL bottom line.. Our Lord did exist..this is no longer questioned by the vast majority of intellectual non believers, his divinity might be, but no longer is his existence.. honestly who cares if the date is argued by some, I know, and if you also believe.. you know.. that everything thats good in this world has it's origins in our Fathers love.. That prayer from "padre".. Lord.. Thank you, on this day we celebrate your birth, and the birth of all thats good in this world. We ask that you might guide us to watch over those who are weak, guide us to be the best individuals we can be.. To remember that belief in you is not about fear or reward, but about forgiveness, and love.. Guide us to give that love to others, and to honor you above all. Lord.. guide us to protect our families and those who need protection, guide us to know the value of friendship, and charitable deeds.. Guide us to be able to cry AFTER we do whats hard in life.. Lord.. We don't always walk on the "purist" or "cleanest" side of the street..We ask that you walk on that side of the street with us.. and direct us to leave it a bit cleaner and purer than it was before.. In your holy name.. Amen. a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture. |
