"lumpy" gets a short block, I just don't want to spend the money rebuilding the 400 right now and why bother when I have a brand new Hi-Po 383 sitting on a stand. After I put the top end together tonight I will install the new inner fenders and fenders. I am not going to get mired in a full blown resto (like my son wants) as I intend to use this truck....umm...well like a truck. As you can see, the engine compartment got a pressure washing and the "krylon" tune up. I have yet to weld in new cab corners but I intend to give "lumpy" a quality paint job. The bed is total junk, rusted beyond repair so if I can't find a suitable replacement, I will weld up a flat bed.....Hey, anybody know where I can get a 'Ma Duce' to mount on the flat bed???? Now we're talki'n! You will notice that this job requires a certain amount of "lubrication" (Budweiser)...LOL! A 6.6 L Duramax along with an Allison trans and all of the electronics to make it function? Even if I found a wrecked 03' or newer Duramax that was wrecked at a decent price, it would be damn expensive (and a shit load of work) to integrate the drive train and electronics into a 1980 K-20....I bought the truck for $300 and drove it home, yeah it needs work but this is not going to turn into a $40,000 + project...LOL! It is a $300 truck which I have put the same into ($600 truck), I will be into it 3 grand by the end of the day, of that I am sure even using stuff that I have laying around.

Me beretta is goin bye bye next week. I gave up on fixing it and its goin to the crusher. And plus me f-150 is SWB which not ideal for a wrecker in my view but I am gonna get a truck bed for ir sooner or later

I want to watch it go peacefully as it was the first ride I got on the road. And plus a $150 bucks is right near what I paid for it when I first got it. I paid $200 so im in th hole 50 but with all the scrap metal I have layin around I may get a few buck more.

i have finally put my truck up on jackstands and took the front tires off,just as i thought it's all pretty rough,shocks,brakes(disc),exhaust,grease fittings dry as hell,just a temp fix until this winter,then i'll get more involved,it's got a good 350 in it tho,saves some $$$ that way.

I wish i had the skill to overhaul red (the F250 stretch 7.3) but i don't .. Runs is doing what I'd like to do with his 7.3, but don't know the status... AS HE'S FUCKING DESERTED US..

Anyhoo...."lumpy" is wearing her new fenders/inners today.......It's official, tunnel ram and dual quads it is.....and after bolting the fenders on......NO! the hood will not clear the carbs.
I have a sawzall, that should take care of it........Velocity stacks and a pro stock scoop and we will be ready to roll!!!!!!

An outfit in kali makes these kits for toyota's but as you can see it will be a cinch to duplicate, all I need to do is scare up a pipe bender. I like this design as it doubles as a roll cage/light bar, I guess it's about time to put in a call to Marmon Keystone for some 2 1/2" sch 40 and some 1" square tubing and a sheet of tread brite.

normally pretty windy, I don't sail there. Hitting the water there at speed is like hitting a brick wall due to the saline % of the lake, I prefer Echo reservoir, Flaming gorge, Strawberry etc..............Yeah ebear! The Great Salt Lake.....LOL!

my daughter could duplicate that bed........Well maybee...errr..ahhh....(she couldn't put the pool up)......anywho....sam, I believe that I will need the extra tank with my induction system, "lumpy" only has one tank, on the starbord side...wierd, every old Chev that I have ever seen has a Port and Starbord saddle tank with the tank switch and switching valve!
1980 was a strange year, half of the fasteners are metric and half seem to be SAE......samD, I will take your advice, I have fought collector gasket issues for years, the thermal expantion/contraction tends to 'fuck up' even Felpro's finest.
Greasy paws, I will have to trim the O.E gaskets to fit the ports of the headers but I will check it out, I have a set of MS9275B on hand.

at the cylinder head end i use the factory chevy exhaust gaskets that are perforated metal.they are cheap!I coat both sides with red or orange hi temp RTV silicone and bolt the headers down.I use the paper type collector gaskets and coat them with the silicone too.no leaks!i have used this technique on race cars,off road vehicles,diesel and heavy equipment it works better than any fancy copper gaskets.try it Hamp.

this is a low budget build, remember that I pimp parts for a living and get stuff for next to nothing and I am using the motor that I built for my Camaro and stuff that I have lying around. Three grand is roughly my budget, I am sitting at about a grand now....You can't build a go-cart for three grand....LOL!
