Handgun Ammo shortage

What is the real story here. I've read that it's because of the military, or because of police using and ordering more than normal. I've even read the military is using 1 billion a year but civilians buy up to 8 billion rounds so I don't any of this is correct. I do know everywhere in Kalifornia, the shelves are empty. The sales people tell me every morning the same people come in and buy whatever is on the shelf. Even these shipments are few and far between. What about in your parts of the country, is there enough to go around?

ammo

I am finding it difficult to find ammo also. The gun stores have some but its hit and miss..
I found at the big gun shows there is plenty. Need to stock up when you find it.. Im working on getting about 500 rounds of each type that i shoot.

Also talked to the guy at Gander and he said people know when the truck comes in and are waiting at the door and buy up all they got. then when i come in its all gone.. they should limit it. I think they are selling it online.. which is low!

Texas Ammo

Shelves are empty for the most part in Texas too.
If your there when delivery arrives you can find your caliber as RCR29 said previously. 9mm seems to be non-existent right now. Yesterday BassPro only had a few boxes of .40 & .45. They did have 2 - 20 round boxes of 9mm Luger +p but it was $24.99ea. I couldnt bring myself to pay that. I agree we need some limits in place.

they are limited and they sell to first come first served. I was lucky 3 weeks ago and bought the only 2 boxes of 9mm they had. White box Winchester FMJ, paid $21.98 per 100. I see these same boxes on Gunbrokers and places, the assholes ask $40 and up for them. Fuck your buddy week!

air is clean, no traffic, most lax gun laws. HB228 just passed: enabling brandishing in defensive situations, anyone wanting to inflict harm on you armed or not defender can use leathal force or in the defence of an occupied structure that you have the right to be leagally placing the burdon on the prosecuters to prove otherwise, and any firearms made in MT are excempt from federal regulations. how it should be godamnit...

45-3-102. Use of force in defense of person. A person is justified in the use of force or threat to use force against another when and to the extent that he reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or another against such other's imminent use of unlawful force. However, he is justified in the use of force likely to cause death or serious bodily harm only if he reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or serious bodily harm to himself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

45-3-103. Use of force in defense of occupied structure. A person is justified in the use of force or threat to use force against another when and to the extent that he reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to prevent or terminate such other's unlawful entry into or attack upon an occupied structure. However, he is justified in the use of force likely to cause death or serious bodily harm only if:
(1) the entry is made or attempted in violent, riotous, or tumultuous manner and he reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent an assault upon or offer of personal violence to him or another then in the occupied structure; or
(2) he reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent the commission of a forcible felony in the occupied structure.

45-3-104. Use of force in defense of other property. A person is justified in the use of force or threat to use force against another when and to the extent that he reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to prevent or terminate such other's trespass on or other tortious or criminal interference with either real property (other than an occupied structure) or personal property lawfully in his possession or in the possession of another who is a member of his immediate family or household or of a person whose property he has a legal duty to protect. However, he is justified in the use of force likely to cause death or serious bodily harm only if he reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

45-3-105. Use of force by aggressor. The justification described in 45-3-102 through 45-3-104 is not available to a person who:
(1) is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of a forcible felony; or
(2) purposely or knowingly provokes the use of force against himself, unless:
(a) such force is so great that he reasonably believes that he is in imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm and that he has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or serious bodily harm to the assailant; or
(b) in good faith, he withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force.

They should make that law in each state...

Ammo shortage

Just talked to a friend back in Indiana and he told me the local gun store closed. Because of not being able to get ammo or guns to sale. His FFL ran out at the end of May and said he was done with the bussiness.

Ammo Shortage

Pennsylvania is short on good ammo, powders, primers and bullets. But not brass... interesting isn't it.
22LR and 12 gauge bird shot is all that is not in shortages here.
you can find really bad ammo rarely, and good ammo is Fuck your buddy week also, even at the local gun shop you shopped at for 30 years...
27.99 for 20 rounds 9mm aguilar brand.. not so good, made in Mexico.
Federal-forget finding it, and if you do, 55 bucks for 50 rounds..

Many states have laws like that. As for brass not being in short supply, the brass is the thing people don't need to buy, as it's reusable.

Real Sad

So many good gun shops closing, all of the good citizens not being able to protect themselves. Who's really the enemy here huh? The US is so naive.

There may be a few here and there, but since Obama's candidacy, most gun shops have reported record sales. The gun industry is one of the few that seem to be doing well. Obama, like Clinton before him, is a great salesman for the gun industry. The dems made a mistake when they admitted they weren't politically ready for the gun control fight again and now is the time to act for state governments, much like Montana and Tennessee have already done. If the NRA is the gun owners' voice, it should be emptying that war chest to pay for gun rights litigation and legislation now. But I have a feeling many on the NRA's BOD are receiving "supplemental income" from the left.

Not just hoarders

IVANTANK is right on the gun sales. Shops around here are selling a lot to women and older folks. And not all for carry either. Many are buying for the home. The Heller decision hit just before the Great Desperation (election) hit and together they started a rush on guns. People who never thought of keeping a gun are now flooding the gun stores. Tennessee is a "shall issue" state and also a "Castle Doctrine" state, you have to look hard for certain models of guns around here. I think they have sold more BERSA Thunders, Taurus 85s and S&W 642s in the last few months than they sold guns total last year.

They seem to have come down about 12.867% in the last 2 weeks. Ammo is still high, because of scalpers. They are buying 9mm 100s at WallE World for $21 & putting on Gunbrokers, etc for over $40. I hope their balls rot off.

do you think that mabey the demand has gone down do to the economy? people have just stop buying ammo because they can't find it. and like around here the ranges are running to capacity and people are leaving rather than wait to shoot.....this may be starting to run its course. atleast i hope so.

and bad press. I think ammo was bought up by hoarders and scalpers and production goes first to the military in Nato 9mm & 5.56/.223. So I think in 6 mos things should be pretty good again. I want to ass whip all the scalpers. I write them emails when I find them online, telling them what scum they are.
Did you see the brass for sale that I sent you. Might be wise to get some now.

I FOUND PRIMERS!!!!

Murphy's Guns in Tucson has four bricks of CCI small rifle magnum primers for 29 bucks each. The guy even said he'd set one of the bricks behind the counter for me to pick up tomorrow. They are the only dealer I have found in the last two weeks that actually has those primers in stock. Now I can start loading my .223
