I don't own it yet, but I have always wanted a Beretta 92. The reason I first wanted this Gun was Lt. John McClane. Willis has used it thoughout the Die Hard series, and it has always appealled to me because these are my favorite action movies. More recently it was used in The Boondock Saints which has again peaked my want for one. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen.....Seeing the same gun in your favorite movies over & over again, untill you just have to have one?

about my penchant for old WWII rifles, I grew up watching flicks like "Bridge over the river Kwai", "Kelly's Heroes" etc. so I imagine that had a lot to do with why I collect those rifles now.

Kelly's Heroes - my son and I have watched that 100 times if once. I vote for the Quigley. M1 Garand next and the BAR. Since I have a M1 Carbine I consider myself lucky. Ma Duece is a given as first choice though. Damn the beer is making me all confused...

Is the movie your wanting us to guess called "Unforgiven"?

As for me I would want to get a set of Dual Revolver like the ones "Snake Plisskin" had in Escape from L.A.

Correct. I watch the scene where they mow down the forest about twice a month on DVD with 6 speaker surround blasting.

I thought they were pearl to, so got a kick out of this story.. Some reporter while writting about Patton made the pearl comment.. Patton called him out on it in front of the press corp.. Told him that only pimps and queers carried pearl.. Men had Ivory..

These are the ones that have the diagonal groves in the cylinder, and the whole gun from right above the grips actually slides back to facilitate the auto feature..

Besides everything else they are supper accurate, and thier was a speed loader thing available for them in WWII when they were available to Brit officers.. they say that because of the nature of the frame sliding they come back on target quicker than most other autos..

Over and above all this, thier just big and ugly to the max.. i love em.. Only problem is thier only available in 38 Colt ACP or the Brit 455.. both weak cartridges.. and because of the nature of the beast this is NOT one of those convert to 38 super or 45 ACP... Trivia on these they are mentioned in the Maltese falcon.. I've only seen one of them, and obviously never fired one.. but WAY cool looking pistols..

I originally bought a .44sp CA Bulldog and loaded it with Glaser Safety Slugs due to it's mention/appearance in Michael Mann's "Manhunter" as much as any other factor. Mann is well known for using current/accurate tech and guns (Crockett's Bren Ten in the MVice TV show for instance....have tried to buy one a couple of times now). Foolish youth, neither the gun nor the specialty load served me very well. That said, my S&W 696 is one of my never-sell-comehellorhighwater handguns.

I still want rather badly a blued, cut down S&W 3rd Model hand ejector in .45LC....as this was Indiana Jones' sixgun in Raiders.

FWIW, I believe Quigley's gun was chambered for either .45-90 or .45-110 rather than .45-70.

Lastly, the Airrow bolt-gun used by the hunter in Van Damme's Hard Target is a helluva piece. Never owned one due to the high cost and no real reason to have it, but shooting one was extremely fun. Quiet, powerful, and just plain cool.

i saw a movie when i was a kid and they outfitted a kid with a double barrel 12 ga. cut down to a pistol with a western holster and ammo loops. he could not hit the broad side of anything but he would hit something beside or above the bad guy and it would fall on them. i am in the process of making myself one those set ups. it was a John Wayne movie i think but i can't remember the name of it to save my life. can't wait to play with this thing.

If it is the movie I am thinking about, the movie was "Eldorado"! It starred John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, and James Caan. James Caan was the "kid" that was outfitted with a severly sawed off double barrelled shotgun. You are right, in the movie he couldn't hit the broad side of a HUGE barn and the shotgun I'm not sure if it was better or worse. I do know that I enjoyed the movie also. Caan also carried a very thin bladed knife in a sheath hidden in his collar that he was very good with and he wore a very "different" type of hat. Can't remember the "bad guy's" name, either the character or the actor, but he played the villian in several westerns of the day. "Eldorado" was released in 1966, 1967,or 1968 shortly after "The War Wagon" which starred John Wayne and Kirk Douglas. I got this information from a filmography of John Wayne that was listed on Wikipedia.

Dean Martin was in a couple of movies with John Wayne. One was "The Sons of Katie Elder" and another was "Rio Bravo" with Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan, Ward Bond (who was in many films with Duke), Claude Akins. I really like the part in Rio Bravo where they are sitting in the Sheriff's Office and Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson are singing. I know that this is an Old thread but I ran across it and I felt like I had the answer to this. I had to do a little research to get the information correct, but Eldorado, Rio Bravo, Rio Lobo, The Sons of Katie Elder, McClintock!, Big Jake, and The Cowboys are really my favorite John Wayne Movies. I also liked several of his war movies, and even liked The Hellfighters, but by and large, his westerns were my favorites.
