He is my President now

While I am not very happy with the results of the election. I realize that Mr. Obama is our President now. This is the greatest Republic on earth and it's people have spoken. Will I go out in the street and riot? no. Will I blame everyone else for my own problems? no. I will take responsibility for may own sucess or failure. I will continue to pay my taxes. I will contact my elected representatives when I feel they are not doing thier job and above all, I will respect the views and opinions of people that I do not agree with because the last time I checked it was still a free country.

Thank you zygotican. I already stated in another post that I was giving him a chance to prove me wrong.

Hair Trigger

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it seems to me that you may have somewhat of a hair trigger. You being a U.S. Marine, I can fully understand this. Tell me something, are the drill instructors really as bad as the one portrayed in Full Metal Jacket?

He is only the president elected. He does not become president until January 20, 2009. After taking the oath of office. President Bush is the President until that time, always been that way.

Give him the repect he deserves. Lets judge him on his actions.
I can not stand his policies but he is now our commander in chief. Lets hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst. I fear for the military cuts, increased spending and handouts.
I will not give up my weapons.
I also fear for our National security. He was a hardcore opponent of the Patriot Act. I know the Lackawana 7 terrorist cell was busted using Patriot Act wiretaps. They had trained in Al Kada camps in Afganistan and planned to attack us. By the way, they were 3 miles from my house........

Patriot Act

I do agree about the Patriot Act. The real problem we have here is that this country really is at war. Not with another country, but with a very dangerous religious sect. Now, half of this country, maybe more, thinks that we are not a war with anybody. They see the Patriot Act as as Governmental Intervention into their personal lives. I can appreciate this, but don't ever forget that sombody or something brought down two very large buildings in NYC and killed over 6,000 people. If my government wants to listen to any, I mean any calls that I make to a suspected terrorist in the Middle East, then we can all sleep well tonight.

The majority of new yorkers do not support the Patriot act. This annoys me becuase we had the most acts of terror and terror cells arrested. These people are sheep. They believe George Bush did all of the 911 BS.
I got into a fight at the grocery store because the lady in front of me was telling the cashier to vote Obama becuase Bush bombed the pentagon with a cruise missle. I was there, it was a fucking plane...then the arguement got heated. I need to keep my mouth shut but stupid is stupid.
But the majority of New Yorkers believe in this conspiracy.
Can we continue to survive when people the majority of people can eat this shit.

I do support the Patriot Act 100%. We will continue to survive because we know how important basic survival is. I don't know about you but I can skin a buck, and I can run a trout line. If I have to I can live off the land. If and when all hell breaks loose all of these idiots won't have a clue because the screen won't come up on their computer.

a correction Zygotican

it is not a "trout line"it is a trot line, basically a length of clothes line with a lead weight on the end and treble hooks and 12 inch sections of leader attached to the clothes line every foot or so.they call it a trot line because you can trot down, throw it in a lake or crick, tie off the unweighted end to something solid then leave.come back 24 hours later and retrieve the line with lotsa fish on the hooks.this is primarily a catfish rig but works on walleye and bass too!just dont get caught by the game warden!

Trot Line

Thank you, my father always called it as such. I never knew how it was spelled correctly. I have run them with my dad and had alot of fun pulling up those huge catfish. In the old days, 1960's, it was not illegal to do this in Minnesota or in Iowa where my all my family come from. Anyway, aren't these tools for finding food a great idea? Mark my word, someday soon, your going to see alot of people wondering around with no clue to survival. They will be knocking on your door. Will you help them? Will you teach them? Or will you point your gun at them and tell them to ..................?

i am with you demo. we are only sheep to the gov. it is sad that the majority is blind to all but what the media wants us to see or believe.
people really need to open their eyes and find the REAL truth for themselves, not the lies and propaganda that the nightly news tells you.
every american needs to remember even our president is elected on electoral votes, not the popular vote.

Please don't hate. Evaluate the actions on merit of Obama. He might totally support the military, national security and 2nd Amendment. My concern is Obama will be judged in a positive light no matter what he does. The media needs to report his merit.
examples are out there. Like reporting projected job losses (which is usually higher) during a Republican administration and not actual losses. Reporting a recession when the economic determinants have no indicated it because they want to influence the election.
Not reporting democrats fighting the funding of the no child left behind act and then critisizing Bush for it. Not reporting Clintons freddie mac and fany mae policy causing this home crisis, while blaming bush. Bush was laughed of the stage when he proposed oil independency and deregulating the housing market in 2002. But the media acts as if he never had a clue and has total blame.
Bush never communicated well and was not a 'politician'. If he was a better politician and changed his opinion with the polls he'd be in a better light. The difficulty of his presidency was high and he did the best he could....but the media can not give him any credit
I am rambling- what do you'all think

respect

while i am new to the site i was reading wht everyone had to write and i must say i think itsgoing way out of wack in thinkin our guns are going to get takin from us, i highly doubt it theirs is way too much work to be done in this country first for them to even think about taking our guns away, so i wouldnt be too scared about that.

im actually thrilled that he was elected, i am proud to say i voted for him and yes i am a marine, i think he has the best message to solve all our problems, most military are rebublicans and thats because theyre living still i have had way too many of my btothers die in iraq to were it makes you think, yes we are the military and yes we are to fight when called up on but in the right and responsible way i mean we are people too, see i can say most military are down to show how brave they are but if the reasons i raq count me out i have a family i am totally down to fight for my country but just to say i did is not enough, i want to fight for a real reason. i want a responsible president who thinks with his mind before his heart because i served 3 years in iraq with no progression and 10 close brothers dies for what? thats all im saying , now im out and going to medical school and can barely afford it im sorry but i need more then what mccain was offering .

respect

Obama has to earn respect. he has done nothing in his career thus far but make promises. what exactly has he done for our country? does he have any background in any of the policies that he plans on inflicting on us? look at Chicago. the highest murder rate. from memorial day to labor day this year there were more murders in Chicago than American deaths in Iraq. why? because YOU are a criminal if you have a weapon in your home for self defense, basically, you cant even buy ammo within the city.
i am a marine also. i served in Kuwait and Iraq and i too lost brothers there. i take offense when someone says "what are we fighting for". we are fighting for the rights we have as Americans. we are America. if you have to look to some false hope to tell you what you are there for, then you should not be there. you should not have joined to serve your country. those who doubt like that are serving their selves not their country. sorry if this offends you my brother, but for now i have the right to speak as i feel.

I was listening to Cam and Company NRA news last night coming home from work. They were reading from the transition goals page for the Obama ter goals. Obama lied about supporting the 2nd Amendment. His goal specifically states banning handguns is a administration goal. I will look on the site for quotes so we can reference it.

i hear you

I understand your point. Good luck in med school. Dedication. keep pressing on, the light at the end of the tunnel will come so fast.
My issue with our present situation is the power greed. The dems want power, republicans want power. Bush had a good energy plan in 2000, the dems blocked it. Now obama has basically the same plan. Will the republicans try and fuck him? Bush had a good environmental plan, the dems blocked him. Bush wanted to fight the war, the dems inhibited him every chance theycould. Will the republicans fuck Obama?
Gotta think Obama will get more done than B ush because Obama has the whole legislature.
Remember, all Clinton had to do was take care of terrorism, Reagan style and 911 doesnt happen. Bush senior and ColinPwell could have finished off sadaam in 1991, the war would not be necessary. I was there, the officers we shocked we were pulling back.
All I am saying is both parties have fucked each other at our expense. If they worked together on 'no brainer' issues we would be in a much better place.
I do not fault you for voting against Bush just as I voted against clinton. Clinton fucked us bad, especially the military.
Does it all matter in the end? we will see

Sent to be by a friend and Patriot.
As I fly my Stars & Stripes, the yellow Gadsen flag will fly below it for the next four years...samD

My promise: As an American, though I do not agree, I will honor the will of my country, my America and the choice that she made to honor you with her safety. I will fly this flag as a reminder to you! Like our forefathers flew to remind those who governed them. It is a reminder that we will neither live without law as equals or with law as slaves. That we cherish those rights and liberties afforded us by The Consitiution of These United States. This Gadsden Flag will fly above all except our Stars and our Stripes as a message to you Mr President. That you remember this!! You are above all my servant Obama! You are the servant of the American Nation and the Great Constitution by which it is goverened. You are the protector of it and you must stand as sentinal over its sacred text. If you smudge the paragraphs which contain God gifted ideals, if you tear the partchment which embodies all that is our nation, if you so much as breathe your liberal venom upon this document in order that it might bleed away our rights in a river of ink and tears then you will face a people re-empowered. An American people.

We will hold you to task and remind you every minute of every hour that you work for us. You will honor us and honor those who came long before you. If you do this and DO NOT TREAD ON ME, then I will do as you ask. That is my duty, to my God who gifted me this Nation, to my Nation which gifted me these liberties and then and only then to my Commander In Chief which we gifted you!!!!!

This is my promise!

I can't understand how someone can back the patriot act. I mean ok so we definitely have a terrorist issue. This I am not denying. We have an increased need for increased security. This I get. But the people who monitor our calls are people. They are fallible. Hell some may get enjoyment out of listening to other people's private phone calls. I do not support the Patriot Act and I hate that it was named as such. I'm curious to see what happens with Obama. I was upset. I am moving forward though and I hope that we don't have more of our rights infringed upon in the coming years.

I support the patriot act because it saved my city. The lackawanna 7 were arrested before they could carry out their mission. The government would not disclose the mission. The US government wiretapped these al kadi trained scumbags for a few months before arresting them. The Canadian news reported they were gonna bomb the federal building in buffalo while bringing weapons over the 'peace bridge'. The Canadian news pulled the story off their website the day after the arrests. These guys were all convicted. We found out they were trained in somalia. We need to protect ourselves.
If the government did not have the ability to wiretap, we could not act until an act has occurred.

Hey bro you have all the right to say how you feel, thats what america is about. but i too served in iraq and yes i understand i signed up to fight for my country and over 50% of america ask why are we there it is a legit question brother seriously, why are i dont understand in iraq we are fighting for nothing but i do understand the afghan war. but not the war in iraq and i hate to say it but our president was wrong for sending us out there he had a responsibility over us and he comanded us wrong , i signed up right after high school because i thought i would be in afghanistan. people have different views on why we should be at war and like i said that is what makes us america our freedom of speech and expression i love my country to death but just because i love it doesnt mean i agree with everything it does, i mean i love my girlfriend but i hate when she snors lol. but anyways me and u are are alive and speaking perfectly but i just cant stop thinking about close friends and my cousin i lost out there and my aunt ask for wht everyday well thats my opinion, i lost both my parents b4 i was 18 and my only bro while he was desert storm so i dont take life for granted and ever and want to be responsible with everything i do and i dont think the iraq war was responsible at all. thats me but on the other hand with obama and his career yeah he hasnt served but he's a smart guy and when u look at chicago and compare it to arizona thats easy for mccain to handle its hardly know urban culture there and all our great president never had much expierience jfk, lincoln fdr ... i think someone should get respect until they give you a reason not to i respect you alot man and i dont know you . kinda like that . and you came at me with respect and you dont know me . but i think he will do good . i mean bush didnt have much experience at all b4 he started and know brought it up so i think everything will be fine i honestly think people are more skeptical because hes not white but theyre finding other reason to cover it up , and this is coming from a white man loll

i am very sorry to hear that you have lost so much in your lifetime. you have my deepest sympathy. you are right, you have the right to question anything. i just have the oldschool mentality like we were trained, to serve and know that i am serving a greater good. knowing that it wasn't my personal belief, but my country that i was serving. i have always been ok with that. as far as Obama, i am not skeptical because he is black, i am deeply skeptical because of his idealism. his views on our rights and many other aspects are suspicious at the least. i cant stand behind Obamas policies because i see what effect it has on Chicago. no he is not totally to blame of course, but with such strict laws within Cook Co. only the criminals can defend themselves.
And from one brother to another, i thank you for your service.

Marine 05

You are safer in Iraq then you are in Chicago. The murder rate in Chicago is twice as high in Chicago then it is in Iraq. At last count there was 495 murders to Iraq's 210, and the year is not over yet. Chicago is not a place to live, been there many time and they will not let you defend yourself when you are there. At less you can defend yourself in AZ and Iraq. This is coming from an old Marine.

responsibilty

hi everybody new member. I agree that even if where not happy with the results from the election, only time will tell if he helps or does more damage. Just wish that the government would make people not take the easy way out and bail out everybody that failed to be responsible with there money. Well just like i said earlier only time will tell.

I agree with above

My President too, I didn't vote for him or Clinton, but they were/are both the leaders of our nation. However, only a Marine would think a liberal would save SamD...no way, he wouldn't know Sam was conservative and would be worried about a lawsuit...
Ok I am amending a previous statement. All of my posts; 5 lines or less

Patriot Act

For those for or against the Patriot Act...have you read the entire thing or are you just commenting on what you have read or been told? I downloaded at work one night and it is one HUGE document. I made it through about 30 pages, too much!!!!

Also, just some examples from the document:

SEC. 2. CONSTRUCTION; SEVERABILITY.
Any provision of this Act held to be invalid or unenforceable by its terms, or as applied to any person or circumstance, shall be construed so as to give it the maximum effect permitted by law, unless such holding shall be one of utter invalidity or unenforceability, in which event such provision shall be deemed severable from this Act and shall not affect the remainder thereof or the application of such provision to other persons not similarly situated or to other, dissimilar circumstances.
\
I am not saying I agree or disagree, but before you comment on it, you should actually read the whole thing and not rely on television or newspapers to form your opinion. In addition, if you form an opinion before you read it, then...well, that is simply an uninformed opinion!

About the bailouts

If the government didn't allow these big companies to merge and form mega corporations, the financial meltdown may have been avoided or at least minimized. This of course, is only one of many problems though. They are so big now and only a handful (i.e., mortgage giants) that when there are problems it is far reaching and "they become too big to let fail"

You can

thank Barney Frank for that. He was in charge of regulating the financial institutions.

Respect

Obama must EARN my respect. Actions speak much louder than words. This guy has been hanging out with known domestic terrorists (Bill Ayers). He has been going to a church that has been preaching hate of America for the past 20 years..."not God bless America, God damn America!"-Rev. Wright. Obama voted to make firearms illegal in Illinois and this just keeps the law abiding citizens from having guns. Hence the increase in the murder rate.

Obama has stated that he is in favor of a central government for the entire world. If this happens, the end of the world, according to the Bible, is not far behind. This guy is way more dangerous than anyone has given him credit for. He has smooth talked his way into power...just like Hitler...Making promises that he will never keep and he will soon inflict his will on the people without regard to liberties, freedom, individual rights or a sense of morality. With the help of a socialist legislature, he has no opposition. I know that this sounds like I am a conspiracy theorist, but I am only making an educated observation. This person could very well be the catalyst that brings on Armageddon...you know...seas running red, fire from the skies, ect.

It all sounds way too "New World Order" for my taste. I hope that he proves me wrong. I will gladly eat a big ole slice of humble pie.

Go ahead punk, Make My Day!
