Nice forum gentlemen. Good points stated from both sides, unlike the liberal media. I have joined in the topic pretty late, but from Patriot Act, Bailouts, and the war, for the most part we have been successful. Saddam is out (though another Hussein is president...Barack Hussein Obama), our economey is faltering but the dollar is gaining on the international market, and gas is cheaper than beer (at least in KS for us rednecks).

As far as our president-elect, I will agree with the boys and give him a shot. I won't give up my guns nor my hunting nor my Constitutional rights. When your girlfriend, after hearing about how her close friends were assaulted, looks to you and says we need a new handgun suitable for both of us, something is not right. We must remember that this is OUR country, for the people, BY the people. The unfortunate majority will paint us as extremists, though we are Patriots. Our Marine bloodbrother from part I, even though an Obama supporter, will be thrown in with us.

The bottom line is this: we are Americans. The following is cheesy, but true for us. In the beginning of the movie "Shooter", Mark Wahlberg is approached at his mountain home and asked to help with a project. His response about helping the president is "I don't like him, and I didn't like the one before him either". Danny Glover's response is "You like the IDEA of the president, don't you?" Unfortunately that is where we are now. We have to remember this and not forget our "core values" (another reference from the movie).

No matter who or what runs this country, we have to remember our attitude of "I will not go quietly into the night, I will not fall without a fight" remains. Forget the Libs and their 400% taxes on our lifestyle. We are free, and we will not surrender to their ideas. We have our own thoughts, dreams and aspirations, and that is why this is America: the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

i believe that this statement holds true.i live my life and raise my children to believe this.even now, during my hard times(out of work)i still abide by this.just today, when i was at our local, small town grocery store the local food bank was set up out front taking donations.i thought about this while i was in the store.it struck me as ironic that here i am in the midst of some of the hardest times i have ever experienced yet there are families even worse off than mine.this bothers me especially since we are approaching the holidays.even though i was at the store to buy diapers for my youngest daughter i decided that the 12 pack of coors light could wait!i instead used the 10 bucks to purchase mac and cheese and ramen noodles.as i was leaving the store,i walked over to the table to give the food bank my donations.i entered into conversation with the preacher of the church that runs the food bank and told him about my situation.the man was really surprised by my donating the food due to my circumstances.i told him that maybe at some point i may need their generosity and that i was happy to do it!my actions earlier today reminded me of something:do unto others as they might do for you(aint accurate but you get it).i am concerned with the new president but have come around to the fact that he is what "we the people" chose.good, bad or indifferent!we can only hope for the best.as for our guns and rights Obama has bigger fish to fry before he even begins to try to mess with them.i have posted before about what change?well even if there is none we all will keep on keepin' on.there aint nothin else to do!

Wow...

That kinda puts it all into perspective.
God Bless You.

That reminds me of something my father said to me when I was feeling down about a situation that I was in..."I felt sorry for myself because I didn't have any shoes, until I saw a man who didn't have any legs."

It is not how many times you get knocked down that shows your true character, it is how many time you get back up.

Happy Holidays to you my friend.

Take your Ammo?

Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your
guns? Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun
world have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and
Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encode by the manufacture a
data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy
and what calibers.

Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the
ammunition is coded. Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be
destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including handloaded ammo.) They will
also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy
will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo
they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona,
California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,
Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania,
Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

To find more about the anti-gun group that
is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each
state, go to: http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm

Truely disturbing

Truely disturbing stuff......and how do we fight back against something like this?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses

Thanks for the heads up on this. No one is going to tell me want I can do about my hunting and target ammo. Over my die body, and I will be getting ahold of my state reps to have them vote NO on this.
