Well, for a drinkie

that would be a Brave Bull: Tequila and Kahlua. Or a B-52: Irish Cream, Grand Marnier, and Kahlua. Either one will make you invisible sooner than you thought possible. I don't drink that stuff very often.

But I'm actually a white wine snob and drink dry rieslings or chardonnays or sometimes a pinot grigio which is kind of in-between. I am set up to make my own wine and have done a descent merlot, but I can't match the quality of the store boughts very easily. My 'cellar' can hold several hundred bottles.

Factoid: Did you know? French wines are all grown on American plants. Years ago they had a disease that killed all the plants in France, so they had to import American plants, largely from California. The French then grafted their own strands onto the American roots. So, in a sense, all the fancy French wines literally have American roots. Take that, froggies!

Some of the cheaper retsinas smell like Pine-Sol. The story is that the Greeks got tired of the Persians invading and stealing all the women and the wine, so they put pine sap in the wine so the Persians would leave the wine alone. The women? Meh!?

I've been to Greece twice now and the local jug wine always went down well (and cheap). And I agree, it is on the dry side. I really have an aversion to sweet, so I avoid Liebfraumilch. Muller-Thurgau, and any 'late harvest' or 'cellermaster's' riesling (which means: more sugar). Or ice wine! Yuck. (Damn Krauts) It's all syrup for pancakes. On the other hand, most sauvignon blanc is way too dry for me.

grigio is the Italian variant. Be sure to raise your nose a bit if you ask for it, because it is not as popular as the chards and will mark you as a true snob. It really is in the middle between the sweeter 'dry' rieslings and the drier chardonnays. Kind of like chardonnay without oak. If you drink a pino no one will know you like farm animals.

It's a brand name for trick wines. It's a rich man's Ripple, a gimmick in a fancy bottle. PINK merlot? Give me a break! I did Ripple when I was an E-3. This shit is not for grownups. Sorry, uglymech. This is not personal.

hai hai sake is like this. chinese sake even worse cause it can be use for rocket fuel! a good northern sake like from hokkaido is very excellent drink. common sake from kansai area or from the yamato plain area (tokyo) standard for export to USA and is not as bad as some nihongi will tell you. it same thing they drink. they just think because they drink in america it somehow less quality, but it not. it is the exact same as sold in any tokyo resturant.

It's an Eastern Washington wine and a little different. They make a chardonnay, too. It has kind of a smokey flavor to it, WAY different than normal riesling. If you ever see a bottle in your area, give it a try. It's about $7.50 but really interesting as a different taste. I can't drink it on a regular basis, but it is unique.

That's a Turkish variant drunk by Mustapha Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. He was a great man who wanted Turkey to join the west. It is the only Islamic Republic. But Ataturk drank a lot of Raki and it ultimately killed him. I was in Turkey, too, and that stuff is potent!

I no longer drink

But when I did and when I do start agin, Long Island Iced Tea from Chili's restaurant in Manhattan, KS is amazing. My buddy said he'd buy my first one when we got back from our second tour to Iraq, and he ended up buying my first five. For stuff at home, Kamikaze or Screwdriver. Smirnoff vodka is the best, I don't care if it is the cheapest
