hi

i am new to the sight so i thought i whould say hi and give a littel info about me i am in the us navy in the middel east right now boots on ground. I never thought I would be in the navy and be in the middle of a desert. I have a kimber desert warrior and a savage 300 win mag I was wondering what kind of scope to get for the savage it came with a cheap Simmons scope on it and I have heard bad things about it. I am kind of new to hunting rifles and I am going to use it for mostly long rang target shooting at about 400 to 700 yards + and a little hunting so what is a good scope to get with not breaking the bank when I get home I am going to pick up a M4 and maybe another hand gun and a pump shot gun I also have a model 1899 savage 303 and a j Stevens model 1915 favorite 22 and a j Stevens model 107b single shot 12 gage

Welcome to Gunslot. Thank you for your service. If you joined the Air Force then you would be at sea. Another well run Government program. Hope you enjoy. Someone will give you the scoop on scopes, better than I.

am ryo, am very glad to meet you and thank you for your service to our country. ryo think you're going to fit right in here. everyone will want to get to know you. in fact ryo is part of a design team here working on a family system of rifles and we are currently going through the selection process for scopes for our rifles. let ryo get in touch with fordvg who is the vice president here and he is the XO of the design team and he is currently heading up the little group to select the long range scopes. off hand ryo would suggest for the range you are talking about, either something like a Niteforce scope or even better perhaps a Burris. here is the url for Burris Optics http://www.burrisoptics.com/

am pretty sure you will find what you are looking for in a good quality scope for medium long range shooting there. please get back with ryo if you need further assistance in finding the right scope for your rifle. btw, Simmons scopes are not really bad at all considering...

again, welcome to the site.

Your new friend,

Welcome. My name is Jon but I go by Snake on this forum. Thank you for your service to this country. As for scopes you could try night force or burris optics. Welcome to the site. Enjoy Gunslot where every bullet makes a difference.

i have a "mart" Savage rifle myself.they all came with the cheap simmons scopes.actually they work ok but for the distances you want to shoot anything is better.i like Simmons or Leupold myself.try the3 Vari X II Leupold in a power that suites you

The first question to ask is, what is your price range?

"I have always been a soldier. I have known no other life. The calling of arms, I have followed from boyhood. I have never sought another." From The Virtues of War, by Steven Pressfield.
