was talking about a sound minded moderator and was gonna tell him the choices around here are pretty thin

Over in the UK do they make you have a surppressor on all of your guns? Because, I have heard that there are some counties that you have to have a surppressor for the gun to own it. Do you know if this is true?
"WAR IS A RACKET, I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street, and for the Bankers." Major-General Smedley Darlington Butler USMC Ret. 2 time Medal of Honor winner.
No mate it's not a legal requirement to have one, the sound moderator is classed as a firearm in it's own right you can't just have one you have to apply for it and have it entered on to your licence before you can buy one. They used to be really anti you having them I think the police thought we were all going to turn into hit men and start assasinating people.
I like to use one for Deer stalking, there is a good chance you can get a second shot if for some reason you miss as the deer don't seem to know where the shot is coming from. I have one on my .223 and rim fire because I mainly shoot at night with those mainly rabbits with my rim fire and I lamp foxes with the .223.

Welcome. So far, I own a Hi Standard Double-Nine, and am in the market for a short barrel semi-automatic .30 to .38 caliber. I understand they are very strict in the UK about owning guns other than hunting rifles.
Hi they are now since Michael Ryan went and shot up Hungerford with a semi auto AK, you can have assault rifles but they have to be straight pull meaning you have to cock it everytime you fire it. You can only own a 3 shot semi auto shotgun on a shotgun certificate anything holding more than 3 shots has to be on a firearms certificate.
You can have semi auto rimfires in the following calbres .22lr and .22wmr, everything else has to be cocked everytime you fire it including military rifles.
Pistols are now banned except black powder but they are getting around this by buying long barreled pistols, also a deer stalker recently took the police to court because he wanted a pistol to humanely kill wounded deer and he won his case so you never know we may get them back yet and there is a campaign running to make them legal again.
