Hi gun folks!

I am rmgunsmith on this site. In 2004 I started my own gun smith shop and have been working on guns and loading custom ammo ever since. I grew up in Western Colorado and started hunting when I was 12 years old. I have been around firearms all of my life.

If I can help out anybody new to the shooting sports please drop me a note.

Remember, the 2nd amendment is our duty to protect and cherish to preserve our freedom.

the model number and serial number, to first determine what generation it falls into. Then you need to give him a description of "condition" using the NRA grading system [which can be looked up using google].

The gun is Blank. No number at all unless its under the wooden handle. But it hasent been dissasembled in 40+ years. Im afraid to take it apart. As for condition its great not excellent but great.

Snake......

There has to be a serial number, unless someone removed it. I do not remember a location under the grip panels. Ask rmgunsmith, Dan where to look. The NRA grading system is a better description, than just "great". LOOK it UP!!

the wisdom of the AGED!! Your SAA has a serial number, UNLESS it was removed. If that happened there might be surface evidence of it.

Colt SAA serial #

Snake,

As mentioned earlier by others, the Colt SAA have always had serial #'s. Take off the grips and look on the metal frame. It has to be there somewhere.

Thanks,

go to the auction sites like gun broker. look for a simuler model and see what price they are going for..or some how get your grandpa to tell you which organization paid him to kill, And then you can blackmail them into somekind of hush money...........but i would try the my first suggestion and see what results you get.But if you go with option #2 use paper cuts and salt on grandpa.....he'll talk eventually

I like dogs

like my dog right there. I just don't like dogs who attack my dog. Even then, they don't deserve to die. I just Mace 'em. Pisses 'em off. Pisses the owner off, so I just say, "Eat me." My dog would never attack anyone--unless, of course, you go near his dishwasher--then it's a whole nother story. If you've excess fur, do not go near the dishwasher. That is HIS, period. It might have a spoon that needs licking. Seriously, he's scary around the dishwasher.

I have a miniature dacshund and a miniature pomeranian. They are two of the girliest sissy dogs around, but I also have guns and about ten thousand rounds of varying caliber, so GO AHEAD AND MAKE FUN OF ME!!!! Hmm. Not very intimidating online, is it. Oh well.

If the piece has no serial number, and no other markings of any kind, you cannot know for certain that it actually is a Colt. Does it not even have a patent pending/date mark or an engraved horse, or a horse on the grip?? How long did your Gramps have it, before he gave it to you? Remember, there are replicas that are so good, that Colt parts will fit them.

Look very carefully at the smooth curved surface of the rear of the cylinder, and see if there are any faint engraved numbers.

by "under" each bullet slot. The serial number usually appeared engraved on the curved SURFACE of the back area of the cylinder. But I can tell you one thing. If the true serial number of your piece IS 118, That means it is the 118th SAA ever made, and if that is true, it is worth MUCHO MUCHO dinero.

118 should be the last three digits of the serial number! it should be located the bottom front of the frame AND under the grips.

SAA is a later generation. As far as I know, the first Gen SAA's had their S#'s on the back, smooth, outer curved surface of the cylinder. First Gen s#'s run from 001 to 375,000.

Big Dog = Small Penis

Well, I've never felt the need to prove my manhood by having a big attack dog around. Smaller dogs are easier to keep, cheaper to feed, and moreover--they live a lot longer. I'm fond of Newfoundlands, too, but if you get ten years out of them you're lucky. Moses is going on 13 and shows no signs of slowing down. Plus he's a gentle dog. I've been around cockers all my life, so it's just natural. I have a Black Lab and a Golden Retriever in the family, too. They're also great dogs and good with the grandkids, who are a lot smaller than they are right now.

Besides, size isn't really the issue. There's a Chihuahua named Milo down the street that would just as soon tear you up as let you live. He's been raised to be territorial by his Volvo-driving Obama-loving parents, except he doesn't know where his territory starts and ends. He attacked the UPS driver twice now. Last two times he went after me I Mace'd him, so now he keeps a little distance. A well-disciplined dog is a joy to have around, no matter what size. Alas, Moze is not exactly a 'disciplined' dog either. (He wants his own McDonalds hamburger, thank you very much.) But he's a damned good bird dog and a great companion, too. ('Cocker' comes from "Woodcock" a small bird in England as well as the US. Cockers were originally bred to go into the swamps to retrieve woodcocks. Moze is an American 'field cocker' with unusually big feet that help him 'keep afloat' on the bogs. English cockers are a little taller with longer snouts.)

We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-bitches, we're going to rip out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. Gen. George S. Patton
