I’m back from hiatus. Spent 7 days/ 6 nights at Playa Del Carmen Mexico with TBH and the youngest. Awesome trip at an all inclusive resort. Beautiful area on the beach just south of Cancun about 20 miles. Resort staff were very friendly and accommodating. Activities all day long or you could just sit there and have drinks handed to you. Folks from across the globe were there. Most were from USA but quite a few were from Canada and Mexico. Some from Asia some from Europe. My favorite activity each day was shooting .22 cal airguns, I think they were Benjamin. Tournament everyday at 10:30 AM. Yep, I done y’all proud. Won in archery too, although I hadn’t held a bow in about 25 years! The ROTC guy from Boston and the survivalist from California were plenty capable of winning each day so we all enjoyed each other’s small victories. Finally got the wife and daughter to show up for the tournament and damn it got competitive! Momma won by 1 point in a shoot off between her and the daughter (25 to 24 in a 3 shot tie breaker). I loved it when folks would ask me “what kind of gun (yeah singular) do you have at home?” I’d just reply “rifles, pistols, shotguns” and grin as they got wide eyed. It was a real eye opener though. Way too many folks with ZERO experience with any gun of any type. (real teachable moment for the daughter, and me too.) Gun bans and restrictions in this world really hit home when you watch a grown man from France or England look like a kid at Christmas because they fired a pellet gun, didn’t have to hit paper, just got all giddy from pulling a trigger. I’ll try and post some pics from the trip and a brief explanation of what they show. Good to be back stateside for sure though.
