home intruders

First of all I would like to thank hecklerkoch45 for getting me thinking of what I would do in certain situations. Say you wake up in the middle of the night because you heard something you realize that your home is being invaded by multiple armed people maybe two or three I want to know your weapon / weapons of choice and your plan of action

I would grab my Kimber .45 and hold them off at the stairs (fatal Funnel), if I was feeling frogy I might come downs stairs with my cx4 but fatal funnels work both ways. But the alarm should scare them off and the kids sleep up stairs so as long as I held the stairs I would be good. If they somehow made it up the steps to my room before I noticed them I would have to grab the shotgun (my daughters room would be behind the shooter and wouldn’t want the round to go through and in to her room). Or I could fall to the ground and shoot up into the target to avoid the kids room.

I have thought about it before, I have plans for all kinds of situations. The wife says I am paranoid I say I’m prepared, we will see if who is right if it ever comes to that.

home invasion

I would grab my rifle and pistols and leave the house. There is nothing in there that is not insured and worth dying over. I would call 911 and inform them of a possible break in.

Before or after?

Before or after the pups get to them?

There is a weapon within reach in each room of my house, the dogs, along with everyone in this house being trained in defensive/combat shooting....

I'm also lucky that on three sides of me are Nam Vets and two City Police one street over, one State Trooper and a few County Sheriffs within blocks.

Hide outs work well, learning to slice the pie, low light shooting and an actual plan of action before anything arises is always the best protection.

No sir, he fell into that bullet... Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!

plan of action

i have thought about it also, our plan is to stay on the floor. both of my daughters have been taught to grab their guns (9x19 pt95's ) and get on the floor. shoot first ask questions later. i told them if ANYBODY comes in their room un-announced start shooting. i will have a .40 and 12 ga. shottie. we also have 5 dogs if anybody makes it past them without us knowing, they will be profesionals (?) but i don't think that will happen any time soon.

Great plan its good that your daughters can protect themselves like that at a young age

Home defense

I live in a split-level house. My room and my son's room are across the hall from each other. Grab the M4, wife grabs the cell phone and calls 911, give our address twice, explain we have a possible intruder in the house, then she goes acroos the hallway as I provide cover, grabs my boy, brings him back to the master bedroom, and I sound off that I'm armed and we have called the police. That's mostly for the benefit of the 911 operator since the calls are recorded and can be used in court. This is the plan if I have reason to believe there are multiple people. The layout of my house makes a one-man clearing almost impossible because of all the corners that are on both sides and the lack of effective cover from incoming rounds. A two-man team could do it fairly easily, but the wife has to take care of the kid, so that rules out the two-man team.

Like most guys, I have heard the "bump in the night" that I thought might be something serious and have gone to investigate by myself. This is not the best idea, but I've always assumed my training and experience, combined with "home field advantage", outweighed the dangers of clearing a structure by myself. Besides, I see no need for a cop to risk his or her life when I'm more capable than most of the first responders who are likely to show up anyway.

If I have good reason to believe there are more than one intruders, having a couple responding patrols will at least even the odds a bit.

calling 911

well i hate to say it but i will call my buddy about 1/4 mile away. he can get here long before the deputys. he knows who i am unlike the cops who might shot my ass if they see me with a gun.if he shoots me it's on purpose. i think the sirens would probably scare away most intruders, but out here it could take 20-25 minutes for them to show up. that is a long timefor that situation.

Call 911 anyway

You should have it on record that you have given a verbal warning to the intruder that you're armed and have called the police. That way, if you do shoot, it'll help you in any wrongful death suit that you gave the fucker the option of leaving. It may not be required, but it can't hurt.

Stupid "LAWS"

Since apparently it is ILLEGAL to booby trap your own property (FUCKERS).. I asked a sheriff if I could place a pressure plate with a shotgun shell attached to the outside windowsills on MY house.

He said no, it was illegal to "lethally" booby trap your house/property

which sux, cuz i had a prototype design ready..i had to scrap it.

But I do have 1000 watt halogens setup to motion detectors on perimiter and a CCTV system, along with afew other suprises..

Lets say if an "invader" actually got to my house..I would know..and he probly wouldnt make it to the 3rd step...
