whats the chance of the admin putting a unique home page icon on the site?

One that comes up when you save the site to favourites and we can use on the desktop.

just a thought. I like icons on the desktop. Its just like waering a cap or t-shirt, people come in and look at your comp screen and ask what this site is. If you just have the default icon no one bothers to ask.
