tell her that the criminals have guns and they have no problem getting them. you could also place pictures on the fridge, i did this with a set of mud grip tires and it worked, not sure how it will work with a gun. lol.

Maybe a basic NRA safety class to start? Once she knows how to handle a weapon safely, she will not be so frightened of them. Call your local gun range and find her a female instructor. If not that, get her Paxton Quigley's book on the importance of defending yourself and knowing how to use a firearm. Once she sees that other women have accepted and mastered firearms, she won't be so against it.
Good Luck.

P.S. Ebear, we women know what cabella's is. Nice try.

Sounds like you have already worked this one out... but just wanted to throw my 2-cents in (5 cents, adjusted for inflation?)

There are some things my DH is into that are not exactly on my list of favorites, but he likes them, so that is that. It bugs me so much when women act like jailers and don't "let" the men in their lives do the things that they want to do. But if a guy dared tell a female that she could not have a so-and-so because HE didn't like it... can you imagine the feminist furor that would bring?

You did explain WHY she has issues with it, but still... surely she sees the news every night and reads about the armed kooks in the world that rob and rape and kill? How many gun-related accidents do you hear about on a daily basis compared with gun-related life-saving incidents? She just needs a good, logical look at actual statistics. If she can look at it that way, it should convince her with no problem. Spreadsheets are beautiful things...

first things first...will you marry me? lol..my wife had a cousin whom she was close to, kill himself. with a gun about 10 years ago. so she was not real cool to the idea of me getting a firearm.so off and on in these 10 years i've eased it back in and she finally relented.ive offered to take her to the range but she would'nt wear the target shirt i bought her...lol just kidding.no she saw that i was going about this hobby in a responsible way, and i too did my research, like you and now i can tell her where i hid her palm pilot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, ebear! Why not? Apparently polygamy is legal out in parts of West Texas...

I can understand your wife's hesitation if she lost someone she was close to. I'm glad she has warmed up to the idea though. So many more people are killed by cars every day, but you don't see anybody swear off driving ever again. I think I would die in one of those dresses! Who wants to wear long-sleeved, ankle-length clothes in 105-degree weather? Might as well wear a Taliban-style burka.

On the other hand, it would definitely help with a concealed carry, LOL!

The Colt Single Action Army handgun (also known as the Colt Peacemaker, Single Action Army or SAA. Colt .45 and sometimes as The Equalizer) is a single action revolver with a revolving cylinder holding six rounds. It was designed for the US government service revolver trials of 1873 by Colt's Manufacturing Company and adopted as the standard military service revolver.

The .45 Colt cartridge was of center fire design containing charges of up to 40 grains (2.6 g) of fine grained black powder and a 255-grain (16.5 g) blunt round nosed bullet. Relative to period cartridges and most later handgun rounds, it was quite powerful in its full loading.

The Colt Single Action Army handgun replaced the Colt 1860 Army Percussion revolver and remained the primary US Military sidearm until 1892 when it was replaced by an enclosed frame Colt double action revolver. By 1875, 15,000 units chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge had entered service along with an additional 1863 chambered for the .44 Henry rimfire cartridge (Wilson 1985.)

By the mid 1870s, the Army had purchased a significant number of Smith and Wesson revolvers chambering a shorter .45 round. Logistical problems arose because the ammunition was not interchangeable. The Colt revolvers would accept the shorter round but not vice versa. For a time, the Government stopped orders for the longer Colt cartridge and used the Smith and Wesson round exclusively.

picture. the SAA in it is exactly like the one i own. By the way Peacemaker and SAA are the same gun. Yes i shot one the one i own to be exact. mine shoots .45 long colts. mine was used in the civil war by a man named John Colley. Also mine is the standard version. It packs a punch. I shot mine in a competition against a .45 M1911A1 i beat it in penitration but it beat me in number of shots on the target.
