Doll, It all depends.

If you have a real finicky gun then yes everytime. Like a Glock you should every third or fourth time you go out.
Schuyler has a friend doing a Torture test on a Glock and hasn't cleaned it so far after 10,000+ rounds, When it jams I guess he will clean it. If you shoot Wolf or cheap ammo then everytime. You will get as many different answers as people that answer this.

Doll..I clean my guns after every time I shoot. And probably once every 2 months for the ones that I haven't shot in a while. This is not necessary. However, I enjoy it and besides, I have no woman, no dog and no sheep like ebear, so I have to pamper my guns.

cleaning my gun

I used to clean it a lot more when I was younger, but I still try to do it daily or every other day at the least. sometimes ebear helps. sometimes he just watches, but he always cleans up afterwards

Doll, the drinking did indeed ease the blur and you are very beautiful. Funny thing though, the more I drank, the more your picture started winking at me. Funny how that happens.

Doll, cleaning guns

In the army, we have three basic phases of cleaning, and they work well for civilian guns too it goes kinda so;

Phase 1: No rust, no dirt, no major carbon. A basic wipedown of the major components that you use between missions (while deployed) or if the weapon is going to be used at a range the next day (while back home). A basic wipedown with a heavy coat of oil to allow the rest of the carbon to begin breaking down.

Phase 2: No dust, no carbon on internals, clean and lubricated, ready to draw out, add a bit of lube, and fire. Used when the weapons are going to be stored for a few weeks or as periodic maintenance, light coat of oil to prevent rust. Can be accomplished with rags, patches, toothbrushes, pipe cleaners, and q-tips.

Phase 3: Inspection ready, nothing but metal and plastic (or wood). Totally dry and clean, needing dental picks to get in the crevices. This is really only done for ceremonies, inspections and when turning weapons in for higher-level maintenance like gauging and borescoping.

I normally give my guns a phase 1 after every range session, but because I've bought quite a few guns recently, they're almost all going through my evaluation period and the only ones that get cleaned right now are the Glock 19 and Glock 26. The rest stew in their filth until they quit on me. Normally, a phase 2 comes every third or fourth range session, and about every six months or so, I'll do a phase 3, just so I can get intimate with the parts and determine if there are any cracks or burrs that need to be addressed or replaced.

Best habit to get into, clean them every time you shoot. If you haven't shot in awhile, at least inspect them. Clean as necessary.

The last time I did, one of them told me to truly love my M1 Garand, and while I was, the bolt came forward. You think "Garand Thumb" hurts, try "Garand Schlong". Not cool. The voices still laugh at me.

But all the shrinks have told me to go away and never come back. I fucked with one shrink so bad he tried hanging himself with his own tie. When it broke, I just made fun of him even more. It's an occupational hazard, i suppose. but on the positive side, i'm now the unofficial Missouri State Wifebeating Champion. I have successfully beat my wife into unconsciousness without leaving a single mark. What? It's what we do.

hate to say it...but

forgot about a long time ago I shot the heck out of my colt hbar on a weekend training class...I stuffed it into the rifle case and stood it up in my closet...hate to say it, but I forgot about that gun for ATLEAST 2 years.. when I did finally clean it, I stripped to nothing, cleaned it, and not one bad thing happened...
now had it been corrosive ammo, would have been a different story, but I was shooting american ammo and noticed NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER.
just my war story

many russian brands used lacqured steel cases. Some kinds of wolf are lacqured, some are steel. Golden Tiger is lacquered steel. Brown bear is steel with lacquer. Silver bear is zinc coated steel. Golden bear is brass plated steel. Barnaul ammo comes lacqured and zinc coated as well. The zinc and brass coatinting won't melt off on the extracter like the lacquer will, and it cycles much smoother. All of the bear ammo and Barnaul ammo is a lot cleaner than wolf, and its similar in price.

it may not be really necessary, but even so at least we know our guns are always clean and ready to shoot whenever we take them out to go shooting. ryo enjoy the time spent with weapons too and cleaning and caring for them is fun. now that also have two pistols also clean them after every time they are taken out shooting as well. again maybe not totally necessary, but ryo honto enjoy taking care of them. and it is big pleasure and not like chore or something not want to do neh.

he suffered massive heart attack week ago yesterday. at first he thought he just came down with bad case of the flu. it turn out in fact he did have the flu as well, but that was what got him to the hospital. he spent most of that day upchucking so much he got dehydrate cause he could not keep down even tiny sips of water. so we took him to the emergency room. he was having mild chest pains and severe pain in his upper left arm. this alerted the doctors that there was problem. so they do tests and blood samples and the cardiac enzymes were off quite a bit. so they schedule him to have angioplasty and cat scan and sonogram and other tests. as the time went by his pain became more and more severe to the point where they were giving him very large injections of pain medicine, and phenergan for the nausea. the angioplasty proceedure showed the clotted over bypass and how the heart attack and done the damage. he is much better now, but he needs to rest. am sorry have not been online, but concern for pops and spending most evenings with him at the hospital kept ryo and little brother away. he talk on phone to victor chan couple of times and asked victor chan to let everyone know his condition. as usual he downplay everything so as not to alarm anyone, but was very near thing. ryo thank God that pops survive. was very close call this time. his heart is not good to start with and now this on top of everything make it worse. he is better and he is resting comfortably. they do have him doped up so he a little goofy from time to time. domo arigato goziemasu for your concern.

It varies. Sometimes right after shooting I will clean it till I can't dirty a Q-Tip at all and add a couple drops of gun oil, then there are other times I will go a couple of range sessions without doing it. Just depends on how busy I am. My .50 Cal I clean after each time, but my shot gun, pistols and AR-15 style rifles I will let go a few bouts of 20-500 rounds before cleaning as they can handle it.

If you are not just a little bit crazy, then you are not quite sane...
