I was watching the new tonight in Worchester, MA. An 8 year olds dad let him shoot an uzi. WTF. The kid lost control of the uzi and shot himself. First off, who lets an 8 year old shoot an UZI. Second, how old should you be to handle a firearm.
I am teaching my 6 year old to shoot with a 22ls cricket single shot. Am I fucked up for starting him so young. How old were you when you started shooting?

Nothing wrong about teaching them young. I took out my Nephew to watch us shoot when he was 1 1/2 year. Had my Mom watch him as we shot. He got mad when we ran out of ammo. We shoot 700 rounds that day and the Nephew wanted us to go and get more ammo to shoot. A kid after my own heart. I have been teaching him since he was 6. I only get to see him now about 2 to 3 times a year since I live out of state from him. He always wants to go shooting. The only way I would ever put a uzi in a kids hand to shoot is be right there with him with my hand on the gun to at the same time we are shooting to control the gun at all times.

IS THE ADULTS..HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE TO LET A KID SHOOT A UZI..IF HES GOING TO THEN THE ADULT SHOUL BE IN BACK OF HIM AND KEEP HOLDING THE GUN WITH THE KID UNTILL THE END..I LEARN WITH A .32 WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD IN COLOMBIA SOUTH AMERICA..BY 14 I HAD MY OWN S&W .357 2 INCH BARREL..SO I THINK BETWEEN 8 AND 10 YEARS OLD IS GOOD TO TEACH THEM..BUT PLEASE FIRST TEACH THEM TO POINT AWAY FROM ANYTHING THEY NOT GOING TO SHOOT AND TO MAKE SURE ALWAYS THAT SAFETY IS FIRST..

Starting out with a 22 is a good idea. A Mini UZI full auto at 8 years old very bad idea.

Young is good...

I was taught at the age of 10 yrs. I was hunting by the age of 11. Teach them young, teach them often and the lessons will last a lifetime. I started with a 12 gauge. Knocked me on my ass on the first shot. I got the second shot just right though. Teach kids to respect guns, not to fear them and they will use them right. My father had guns all over the house. We never thought anything about it and we, as kids, didn't mess with them until it was time. Teach safety and it will also last a lifetime.

I let my son

I let my son shoot a 9mm at 7 meters. For the first time last year. I would not let him shoot full auto though
