Vaquero
What part of the state are you from?
I spend most of my time west of Weattherford, currently in Booker, as far north as you can go and still be in TX. I do a lot of field work.
The_Brown_Recluse
Southwest Texas around Uvalde County...I'm not too familiar with the Weatherford area.
Vaquero
Weatherford is adjacent to Ft Worth on the West side, I 20.
I work out of Lubbock, all over the southwest US.
Uvalde, i figured San Angelo or there abouts from the background in your pictures.
Kinda close.......
Shakleford
Home of the Newton Boys, right?
The_Brown_Recluse
Yessir...Also the home of Mathew McConaughey.

Gunslot mister spider, a bunch of really great guys and gals around here who are all very knolageable.....The (un)official motto, 'if we don't know the answer, we will make one up'.
The_Brown_Recluse
Yeah, that's what it seems like...My favorite kind of folks! Catchy motto, I like that

I hope you're friendly. My dad got bitten in the calf by a brown recluse, and it nearly took his leg off. When it finally healed, it left a hole almost 2" deep. One of the horrible things about them is that you don't feel a think when it bites.
All that aside, welcome to Gunslot. It's a great place, with a lot of great people. Lots of information, lots & lots of give & take, lots of good pictures.
Like Vaquero, I'm also interested in just where you're from. I grew up in Petrolia, in Clay County, almost on the Red River, then lived for a good while in Houston. Houston's still my favorite American city.
Tell us about your interests - which guns, which shooting discipline(s), do you collect or just accumulate? What do you do for a living? Age, military service, if any.
The_Brown_Recluse
Sorry to hear that about your Dad...Out of all the wildlife in Texas, I fear the Brown Recluse the most...Unlike the Rattlesnake, you can't hear one and very rarily do you see one, but when one nails you, it's always guaranteed to be very BAD.
I grew up in the Uvalde County area...San Antonio is by far my favorite Texas city, however I'd still like to give Austin a shot...I don't know what you'd call me...I collect all types of firearms, but usually lean towards the Military variants...I also shoot everything from black powder cap-and-balls to precision long-range...I'm also a traditional archer and love bow hunting.
Unfortunately I never served in the military...I spent the first 7 years after highschool working on my 1st Bachelor's and after spending 2 years working in the oilfield, I'm back working on my 2nd Bachelor's. I'll be 30 this November and right now, I'm enrolled as a full-time student.
Bigshot Nobody
I've got family in TX and they are all shooters too.
Keep up and have fun. Conversations around here ebb and flow,,, and usually both within the same sentence sometimes (till a bro referees and the talk gets going again)
By the way I am exactly that, I' nobody really .....just the church bouncer they call me in TN
The_Brown_Recluse
Thankyou Sir...I like "Fiddleback"...I should've thought of that one when making up my name, but oh well. Ha ha, "the church bouncer"? I'll bet there's got to be a good story behind that alias.
Shakleford
Always glad to have more Texas blood on the site! What are you're shooting interest?
The_Brown_Recluse
Howdy and thanks! Always good to see another Texan...I'm leaning more towards the competitive side nowadays...Things like tactical rifle & pistol competitions along with long range type stuff. How 'bout you?
Shakleford
Falling plates, Trap/Skeet, Defensive Pistol.......that kinda stuff!
zx12rmike
Welcome recluse. lots of Patriots and OK Texans too , have fun!!
Pkato
You should like it here, there are other Texans...so you guys can type
to each other slowly!!! Just kidding, I love Texas and I have very fond
memories of the time I spent there in San Antonio, Dallas and Brownsville.
Although, the Brownsville trip was to meet the father of my ex gf, funny
thing bout them dam Mexicans down there, they sure do drink a lot. I
don't really remember much of that trip, except getting almost killed on
the highway by a crazy truck driver. Anyway...welcome to the site!!!

The_Brown_Recluse
Ha ha, no offense taken...Brownsville's something else...I lived in McAllen for a year and had one helluva time...If you're a well-to-do white guy and like the Latinas, then that's the place for you...My God, and I only thought College was fun...I got to live out nearly every fantasy I ever had down there...
