My best friend has 2 grandsons, 6 and 5, from the same "union".
These are some fun little shits, hunting ,fishing, working, whatever.
Short story, dad's in the slammer for meth and all the stealing that goes with it.
Mom is just as bad, she just aint incarcerated at the current time although she has been and should still be.
For the 3rd time a judge has awarded custody to my bud and his wife.
For the 3rd time the boys have been given back to the bitch who won't do anything but drop 'em off at her moms or her dads and go get fucked up. Just happened friday.
My bud and his BH will make it, broken hearts are "old hat".
I'm asking for prayers for the boys. I have personally been there when they got dropped off by "mom" or when picking them up. Just fucking filthy, fend for yourself find what you can in the house type of existence. Sorry, Just get a bit worked up. GOD and Jesus will know who they are.

Yes.. For real prayers for both the boys and the grandparents..

and for you two that you always share thier hurt, and hopefully help raise those kids.. Can't they try to get custody, or is that the sort of thing that will keep them out of the boys lifes. Grandparents don't have a lot of rights when it comes to this sort of thing.. and seems CPS is either the best or the worst..

CPS and everyone else is on the G'parents side.
They have legally filed for custody twice, and been granted custody.
I need to find whoever is behind all this!

The dad in this mess is my bud's son. The "mom" is.........somebody I wish i'd never met.

I would bet money theres two things going on at the same time.. One is that CPS might not be as "behind" them as your friends think..They have a hard time changing custody so they play both sides.. typical beurocrats that are more afraid of losing thier job than the welfare of the child.. Makes you sick, but a fact..

Second is a liberal judge who listens to the court appointed lawyer.. Mom and Dad have to be close to the "end of the road" before they will grant change, and then (thats why the prayers are important) sometimes the kids wind up with major behaviour problems.. It's a mess.. Glad your there for them buddy.. Yep this needs to happen before those kids lives are ruined..

If I am a Veteran of anything it is doing battle with DCFS (CPS). Even though this thread is not about me, I want to tell a little story to give you an idea how these people think......

I will spare you the agony........fast forward, the ex and I enjoy (not) joint custody (she was and is undependable).....Anyhoo, she hadn't worked since before I gave her the boot, Mom and boyfriend are paying her bills, she is driving around in a 2001 Trans Am which was acquired by trading off the 2000 Grand Prix GTP that I afforded her in the divorce (clear title, talk about making an asset into a liability)....welfare requires zero assets.........I know, I said I would spare you, but I am just setting the stage here..........So she waltz's in with a 'song and dance' about being the sole provider, unemployed, deadbeat dad (I had the kids full time at this point) so on and so forth and without one bit of documentation provided they gave her welfare on behalf of our two kids........

It gets better, after about 2 or 3 months they start garnishing my paycheck (I had no idea this was going on) to the tune of $500/ mo...So I call them (duh!).............

CPS: Well Mr Woodside we are garnishing your paycheck to pay for welfare paid out on behalf of your children.

Me: But I have had the children full time since XX date and have been supporting them as well as paying my child support and their mother has left town and moved to California.

CPS: Well we will need documentation of this............Which I provided, copies of child support check payments, sworn depositions from everyone I could think of......

Those bastards Garnished my pay for a whole year and when the finally deemed that I was on the up and up, they gave me half my money back.........

I feel horrible for the children in this case and I feel just as bad for your friends, they have seen what wonders the state can work when Mom, Dad or whoever says "i'm all better now" and the State/Courts whisk the kids away, back to neglect.

What a horrible story. I will certainly pray for the kids, and for the grandparents.

Because of playing in various bands for a long time, I knew many addicts, hooked and strung out on different drugs, including alcohol. I never knew ONE to reform and get their shit back together. I suppose that I must believe that it happens, that every so often rehab, counseling, and all of that actually does some good, but I've never seen it. Of course, I'm one guy, and I certainly haven't seen everything, by a long shot. Some of these people were personal friends, guys with whom I worked, with immense talent (far more than me), and people that I really liked. I tried, but I could never help them. They'd look me in the eye, cry and express remorse and the resolve to straighten up, and it was all pure bullshit. They just wanted the attention. It affected me personally for a good while, then I finally realized (I guess I'm not to swift on the uptake) that I was being played, so I stopped.

Hampster, I'm sorry for you. I think that you're a totally great guy, and I'm sorry that you were used and hurt in such a way. I'm glad that you have the kids, and that they love and value you. They have half their genes from their mother, but I think that they'll follow your example in life.

but my custody battle to win my kids took 2 and a half years and $98,000. (still cost me a house). But they have been on Honor Role since.
