Hunting

I joined last night and this site is great! I know there is some fellow Whitetail hunters in here. I am expecting to see a good many trophy pics in here by the end of hunting season. I will share mine as soon as he walks out in bow range. I know I know this is a gun site, but i won't talk alot about bowhunting, although i will say it is exhilarating to be so close to such a beautiful animal with a bow and arrow. No other feeling in the world. And yes I do hunt occasionally with my rifle, I have a Winchester Model 70 .270! Great Gun for Southern Alabama Whitetail! AMEN

My deer season ended yesterday, all I have is the memory of 2 nice doe's walking 35 yards in front of me. Hope to do better next year.

Arrow Slinger

I have a Fred Bear Instinct. 30" axel to axel. Shoots great! I love that bow! I put some dampeners on it to make it a little bit quieter, so they don't jump anymore BEFORE my arrow hits um. LOL

hog hunting!

here in washington state about 25 years ago a hog farmer went bankrupt and couldnt feed his pigs anymore so he turned them loose.well,as with any animal when turned into the wild they went feral.so every few years the game department opens up a pig season.the tags are free just have to buy your big game license.problem is,the farmers who are having the problems with the pigs wont open up their property for hunting!man,i would love to hunt wild pigs!i raise them for meat now and know how crazy they can be!plus i have a short magazine lee enfield(old british army gun)that was rebored to .444 Marlin that i think would be great for hog hunting!

Hog hunting!

Yeah thats a shame those farmers don't let hunters on their property to get rid of the hogs. The best conservationalists are hunters, and about 95% of them repect the land and the people that lease it to them. In our club they started doing some timber cutting and drove all the hogs out of one huge bottom and now we are seeing them all over our club. They just walk the roads in broad daylight. There is not an over abundant number of hogs, but if we don't kill them soon, they will triple in numbers and some of the bigger hogs will kill the yearlings after this rut. hogs multiply faster than most people think and will soon take over some parts of the country.

hunting land

i mainly hunt private land here in western Wa,though there is a bit of open timber land that we hunt too.we hunt (me and a buddy)hunt for grouse, rabbit(cottontail),blacktail deer, and black bear.i also hunt north eastern washington for white tail and mule deer and turkeys(merriams turkeys)on private farm land owned by my wife's family.there aint nothing like shooting a mule deer that has been eating alfalfa all spring and summer!tasty vittles!the turkeys are hunted a different way.when driving a pickup(yes,i am a redneck!)down the highway, turkeys may decide to cross in front of you.at this point it is your duty to FLOOR IT! and aim for the middle of the flock!if you do it right you will land a dead one in the back of the truck!(two time champion thank you very much!)

Hunting

I have never really hunted anything other than whitetail and hogs. We lease a 6,000 acre parcel of land from a timber co. But my dad and I are thinking about going to Southwest Texas for a hunt this year sometime. thanks for the tip with the turkeys i will have to try that soon!!

guided hunts

due to my physical disability i have been looking into hunting with a guide. After several websites and phone calls i found a guide outfit that is reasonably priced and will work with me on my disability(fucked up lower right leg)the one i found that seems right is Sunrize Safaris.this is(didnt know it at the time)the guide service owned and operated by The Nuge!Ted Nugent.i can go on a Michigan deer hunt with one of his guides(i specified Big Jim)for a 5 day hunt all inclusive(food, lodging, meat handling)for 2000 bucks! or for the real deal 2500 with Ted!so i am gonna start saving now!

Archery Equip. rules

Not sure about lighted sight, Luminocks yes, I think all broadheads up to 125 gr., fixed and mechanical are legal in Alabama. Also 2 yrs ago they started allowing crossbows during the general archery season. I shoot the G5 Montec fixed broadhead and the Rage 3 blade mechanical. Both very deadly!! massive blood trails with both!

I might have to look into that myself. Ted send me an e-mail a couple months back when I asked him to do a spot on has show about the CheyTac M200 rifle. I know he owns 2 of them, because the guys at CheyTac told me. I told Ted, I was planing on useing the CheyTac for buffalo hunting. He told me, to send him an e-mail back after I get done with my buffalo hunt with the CheyTac rifle. Called me his blood brother and thank me for my service to our country.

I have a messed up shoulder from the Marine Corp so, I have to use a rifle to hunt with. Plus, with a rifle they don't have to be close to me to shoot them.

the Regs. are not that bad in Alabama thank god. The game wardens don't mess with us too much. they pretty much know where to look and what trucks to look for down here. We did need them last season however, I had a trailcam set out in the middle of the woods in a bedding area and some asshole on a 4wheeler came across my viewing area with the cam and it took a pic of him. He did it all the time and we started noticing stands and cameras being stolen. we went to the law and they helped us get him!!
