But I saw the previews and got irritated. I did EOD escort for 8 months and no EOD tech I've ever met acts like that. I see a lot of these Iraq-based movies and it makes me wonder if the nam vets get that pissed watching movies based on their war. just haven't found much worth watching. I did like the episodes of Generation Kill that I saw. I need to watch the whole thing. A realistic EOD movie would be kinda boring for audiences because you'd mostly see robots going to a device or crater, placing a charge, coming back, BOOM, EOD going down to check, and rolling back to camp.

I feel you

but just go into it realizing that its a movie, and not going to be that realistic. I admit they saw a lot of action (besided EOD) and did shit that they would get their dicks shoved up their asses for, but still a good movie.

My wife is trying to get me a deployment. Apparently, there is are six individual augmentee deployment spots open for E7s and above in the MP corps to go to Afghanistan to do some sort of detainee ops mission. I'm only an E6, and I can't imagine there not being six E7s in the whole corps that don't want to get away from their wives for a year, but here's hoping. I HATE detainee ops, but if it'll get me back on deployment, I'll do it.

My daughter-in-law's son is EOD with the U.S.M.C in Af'stan. I'm very uncomfortable thinking about him or anyone having to do it but he volunteered. It's like looking down the barrel of a cocked pistol with someone's finger inside the trigger guard.

Forrest Gump is a good movie. It has some 'Nam" scenes in it. Tom Hanks got shot in the ass. "The army said it was a million dollar wound, but I haven't seen one nickle of that money" lol

When they have to deal with a possible IED, they almost always use the robot. A 155mm artillery round will kill you whether you are wearing a blast suit or not. The suit may stop the shrapnel, but the overpressure will literally liquefy your insides. The 8 months I did EOD escort, I saw the techs put on their bomb suit maybe half a dozen times. There's a difference between a pipe bomb made by a high school kid here and a six-pack EFP in Iraq

Assuming you all do, i actually didn't till fairly recent. For the "also slow" The actions that led to the CMH (in the film) were prettty close to an artilery troop that was actually awared it for the same heroic efforts. They did special effects and put Hanks head on the actual recipiants body durring the presentation sceen.. Sorry i don't have the name, will look it up tomorrow when awake..

a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.
