I am sorry but the internet has really screwed up some things without question....

What happened to holding a freaking Manual? Or sending your kid into the other room to find a country on the damn Globe!

we bought

4 from here,all good quality,2 light up,ones a 16 inch floor model,ones made of gemstone.I will vouche for their customer service,i ordered one in LasVegas,and it was at my door the same day i got back home,we have several more,along with world maps on the wall,my wife and i are both geography nuts i guess.

Piqued my interest

Just curious. What era would you suggest for a floor model? It seems boundaries and recognised administrations change very often lately. I suppose a post USSR would be my goal. Then again, if I could get one with Pursia instead of Iran I'd consider it.

I think having one from 16th/17th century would be pretty cool too. I like a lot of those historical maps where they had a general idea about the land masses and decorated the oceans and "wilderness" areas.

finding globes or maps that reflect different national boundaries thru history,i have one globe that has the commercial airline routes on it,another has shipping lanes,kinda cool
