After contacting several pe3ople on this website I managed to make contact with someone who had received a "Carry and Conceal Weapons Permit" in a rural area of Northern California. I to live in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Are about 30 miles east of the city. It seems that in California every county is able to determine their own rules regarding who qualifies to receive a carry and conceal permit. Since I live in a major city of over 100.000 people I thought my chance were pretty slim of receiving a permit, but I thought it never hurts to try. I was also told by the gentleman who had a permit that it takes a lot of persistence but to keep trying. I contacted our local sheriffs office and I told him my story as to why I felt I needed a CCW permit. I told him that I live next door to a drug dealer who beat me up one night at 2 AM for asking him to turn down the volume at the party he was having since our complex has a 10 PM quiet time rule and he immediately jumped me, punched me in the nose, and broke my glasses. When I fell to the ground he began kicking me, and everyone in his house came outside and watched. No one did anything. Little did they know that a neighbor upstairs witnessed the whole incident and after I called the police he gave them a report, after listening to the lies that each of his witnesses gave to the police. In California you have to have a valid reason for requesting a CCW permit. Make sure you tell the truth when you submit a request for a permit. |

Good luck with your permit. Do you have to request it in the county you live in or since it is a State issued permit can you get one anywhere inside the State? I know where I grew up they were pretty liberal with them for Ca. standards. I think I told you that already though.Look, I got to use "liberal" in a good way for once.

You have to apply in the county where you live. The thing to do is to ask your local police department who you contact in order to get a carry and conceal permit. If your local police department turns you down, ask them for a written letter of the denial.
Then go to your county sheriffs office and ask them for a CCW permit to be sent to your home. They will request that you get three letters of recommendation from people you know who live in the same county as you do. You them forward the permit application, the three letters of recommendation, the letter of denial from the local police department, and and the application fee to the county sheriff whose address is on the CCW application.

Is that an Interceptor Body Armor vest with 12 M4 mags, 6 HEDP grenades for the M203, 2 M67 frags, six M9 mags and a fixed-blade combat knife? I thought it felt more like the hand of God, but armor works too. I suck.

I am lucky to live in where I do here in Washington. I did not even have to give a reason why I wanted one. I just gave my finger prints, 50 bucks, and a signature and twoo weeks later I got it. It is just nuts all the liberals in California have made it such a socialist republic. To all the gun nuts in California keep your heads up and do not let the bastards get you down.

I also used to live next to a drug dealer. I really feel for you. The sheriff used to come by all hours of the day and night to harass this guy. The would get on the p.a. and harass him while they are driving by. I can remember at least 5 times chasing these "customers" off my property at gunpoint. This scumbag lived with his mom and she would not allow them in the front door. Then they would come onto my property so they could jump the fence and go in his bedroom window! My wife came out to my workshop one night. She looked like she had seen a ghost. She tells me this woman was on the side of our house and scared the shit out her. Then she told my wife to mind her own fucking business. She was gone before I could get there. Ever since then I have taken security for my wife and kids extremely serious. I grew up in the same area and I guess I didn't really see the way things were escalating. It didn't take long before we moved. Stand your ground Brother and God Bless.

The problem with any gun law is that it fails to take into account that that people who break the law don't give a dam "about the law." Which leaves law abiding citizens with only two options.
Continue abiding by the law and sacrifice the protection of your family, or become an outlaw yourself by carry a gun to protect the lives of your family.

My wife tells me she's scared that someday I'm going to get stabbed or shot. I told her I'm not backing down, I'm the one that gets involved when I see some stupid shit going down. I once saw two girls get stopped in front of my neighbor. I decided to go outside and water the grass (to watch). The girls were too young to be hanging around with these guys. After about 5 minutes one of the guys slapped one of the girls in broad daylight. I took my persuader and faced all 4 of these guys and they told me it was none of my business. Well it is now I said. My wife called the police and I tried to talk the girls into staying. The guy that slapped her said something in spanish and the girls went with them! go figure!!! I'm not trying to pull my own chain, but the only way a bully (so to speak ) is going to back off, is to hit him first.

I once lived in a place where there were many shady people. What I did was bought a rotweiler and a pitbull. Guess what no more problems with the drugy neighbors. The drug heads know that most people will not do them bodily harm, but a mean ass dog does not care tey think you taste like chicken no matter what and they won't feel bad in morning.

Im not sure your aware, or maybe you have already. But I do believe you will need a couple courses, a prerequisite sort of thing. Even if not specific to your county, the site I lead you to will have a few guys that explain the experience. Sounds long and painful. I have seen cases where a judge can push things along quite quickly if there is strong evidence that the victim (that would be you) is afraid for the life of his family/himself. But keep in mind, if and when they interview you, and if you pass all other requirements, you sort of lose all the tuff guy rights as to instigate any situations u may encounter, like some others have mentioned above. The legalities of it require you to follow some guidelines or that permit was a waste of time and a direct hit to the cause Californians (and 2nd amendment rights advocates/gun owners) are fighting for. That having been said, I wish you luck and I'm rootin for ya.

states that doesn't have a castle doctrine. You can get your permit easier than most might think, but you have to leave your house if somebody comes after you. I can't remember what its called, but it's not stand your ground. It doesn't render a permit useless, but the laws there do hamper your ability to protect yourself and more importantly your family.

I've been encouraged here in Sonoma County re: the ability of private citizens to protect themselves and their homes from intruders. 2 separate incidents: Feb 2006 in Healdsburg and Dec 2006 in Cloverdale, where the homeowners' actions were found to be justifiable homicide by the local DA (see Press-Democrat archives for full stories). And this within close reach of San Fran in an area that's been over-run by the left-wing liberals. Look up the articles, the one in Healdsburg will warm any pistolpacker's heart. It really comes down to the DA's ability to sell it to the voters and willingness to try.
