If anyone can tell me their opinion
on STI i would also appreciate it if they could share their knowledge with me on my quest for my first handgun. "Give me liberty or give me death". Patrick Henry, March 23,1775 |

ironhead, I fired a tricked-out race gun made by sti and it was great. I hate 1911 style guns, but I made an exception for that thing. roland, try different defense loads and see which one you gun likes the most. My Glocks were most accurate with Cor-bon, but the short length made chambering spotty. The guns cycled fine while firing, but when chambering the initial round they would sometimes fail to chamber. So, Speer Gold Dot HP it is.

Why do you hate 1911 style guns. Just curious as i'am just getting into handguns

1911s are great guns if you like visiting your gunsmith. Don't get me wrong, they have earned a good reputation through some of the worst terrain on earth, but the Glock wasn't around when the 1911 came out. In order to get even close to the reliability of a box-stock Glock, XD, or HK, you will need to spend a few thousand dollars, and even then, the 1911 wears out faster than the "combat tupperware". In my opinion, people who say the 1911 is still the best out there are living in the past. I guess I'm the "counter-elitist gun snob"?

i agree with ya, nothing beats glock, but in my honest opinion, i think 1911's are the most good looking guns out there.

But I'm not trying to razzle-dazzle a bad guy into submission. Hell, I took a dremel tomy Glock to trim down an extended slide-stop lever and I spray painted my Bushmaster/ EO Tech/ Aimpoint. Looks don't apply to me.

1911's are great guns. of course glock are reliable and always be... but since 1911, 1911's HAVE BEEN RELIABLE! you shouldn't have to visit the gunsmith unless you are upgrading parts... keep it clean and lubed and it will shoot when you pull the trigger
